Now I have been to Disneyland a million times it feels like, but planning this honeymoon in Disney World is a little bit more daunting. I have a couple of simple questions about my trip. What is the weather like in Florida in November? How are the crowds? To dining plan or not to dining plan? Is there any specific resort that we just HAVE to stay at? Any feedback would be lovely. As I said, I'm kinda overwhelmed with the planning at this point. Thank you so much!

Originally Posted By RoadTrip Congrats! The weather during November is generally quite pleasant. It is typically the least rainy month, with highs averaging in the upper 70's to low 80's. Watch the long-term forecasts though... it can vary a great deal. I've been to WDW during November when the highs were in the upper 80's and at other times when the lows were in the 30's. If you asked 50 people for resort recommendations you would get 50 answers. Here are my recommendations for the various resort categories. Value: All Star Music... it seems less over-run by kids than the other Value resorts. Moderate: Port Orleans French Quarter if you prefer the feel of New Orleans and a smaller resort; Port Orleans Riverside if you prefer antebellum style architecture (southern mansions) and a larger resort. If you choose Riverside I think the Magnolia Bend section (the mansions) is more romantic than Alligator Bayou, which has more rustic style architecture. Deluxe less expensive: Wilderness Lodge. For many people it is the most nicely themed of any WDW resort. The lobby is absolutely spectacular. Deluxe very expensive: The Polynesian. It is one of the original WDW resorts but is still very popular and has many repeat visitors. I feel it is the most romantic of any WDW resort. I'm not a big fan of the Dining Plan because it has made restaurant reservations much more difficult to get. But for the cost savings it is hard to beat. I prefer the "Tables in Wonderland" program where you buy a pass and it gets you 20% off EVERYTHING (including alcohol). With price of alcohol at WDW it can be a big savings if you enjoy a bottle of wine at dinner and a couple of drinks at the hotel bar when you return at night. That plan is only available to Florida Residents and Annual Passholders so that probably wouldn't work for you. For a special treat see Cirque du Soliel's La Nouba at Downtown Disney's West Side. It is pricey but well worth it. A final word of advice... don't try to see everything. WDW is HUGE and you are just going to scratch the surface. This is your honeymoon, and there is NOTHING romantic about running around the parks for 12 hours a day. Sleep late, hang out at the resort pool and enjoy some quiet time with each other. WDW will always be there. Your honeymoon only comes once! I spent my honeymoon last September at WDW and on a Disney Cruise. I think I spent less time in the parks than I ever have, but I had a wonderful time.

It was too hot for us then, but we liked the Food and Wine Festival. November weather should be better, and further from hurricane season. We thought about the Dining Plan and I think it would have saved us money, but we did enjoy not having a ton of dining reservations restricting us. It is important to make reservations for restaurants important to you in advance. I believe all the restaurants are available at 180 days out. Since DH and I have been "together" for eight years, and don't know when we will ever get to go to WDW again, we did try to see everything. Well, except Harry Potter at Universal's IoA. Other than going to the Space Center, we stayed on property and did the Disney parks. We stayed at Port Orleans French Quarter and loved our room in the mansions. We thought that the Values would just be too kid-full for us on our honeymoon. We got the 30% discount on hotel room deal. The buses were great for us. My trip reports talk about our week in the WDW Trip Report section with my screen name in the titles. We spent two days at Epcot and one day at the others and then our last day was up-in-the-air until that day and we chose Animal Kingdom again. I had thought I would enjoy the Magic Kingdom more, but one day was enough. DL is better! Congratulations on your engagement! Feel free to email me (see profile) if you'd like.

Personally, I would advise either Port Orleans Riverside mansions (where we honeymooned, it was like staying in the Haunted Mansion!) or go for a Deluxe like Wilderness Lodge, the Poly, or Animal Kingdom Lodge Savannah view (only if you have a car). But I would actually advise some time off site too. Universal Studios is very different to California, and Kennedy Space Center is amazing (the dining plan is too restrictive if you plan to do that). Worth doing even if it means skipping the Magic Kingdom (Disneyland is so MUCH better - though there are still some nice uniquities). Some real special honeymoon tips: Get the bride and groom ears, they make for a great stay - treatment is amazing. Try to snag dinner at the California Grill for when the fireworks are on. Amazing romantic treat. Victoria and Alberts is great for a very romantic dinner. Be sure to take your time and not plan on doing everything unless you are there for 2+ weeks. We honeymooned Thanksgiving week, and the crowds were not too bad. We returned a few years ago when it was also a kids football and cheer leading competition and it was heaving. But early Nov should be good. Weather - as Roadtrip said, can be hot, and can be down right chilly. Pack layers and watch the forecast before you go. Have a great time.

I would recommend a deluxe or a moderate. I have stayed at Music, Movies and Pop Century and they fun but you might want something a little nicer. I have stayed at Port Orlreans, it is very charming. I loved the pools there. Caribbean Beach is nice too but it is really a big resort. We have also stayed at Animal Kingdom Lodge. It was our first trip there and we really got the Wow effect. It was really neat to see the animals. We always do the dining plan. It is nice to have your food already paid for when you get there. Make sure you make reservations early. 180 days in advance. Some of our favorite resteraunts are Coral Reef Cinderella's Castle Akershues 1900 Park Fare Have fun planning!

We were going to stay 5 nights at a deluxe until free dining happened. We then changed to 11 nights at Pop w/upgrade to basic dining. Pop is a fav resort of mine. Staying at Pop w/free dining gave us 11 nights instead of 5 and a lot of extras and frills and we'll still be in budget. But, that's a personal opinion. I know most would rather stay moderate or deluxe for a shorter trip. I say consider all options and make the decision that will make YOUR dreams come true! Congratulations and best wishes for a long and magical life together.
