I'm generally a light-packer, and intend on only bringing my small roller luggage piece with shoulder bag that slides on as carry-ons, so I don't have to worry about baggage claim. It's only a 1-hour+ flight for us...--and of course my new umbrella stroller that I'll check at the gate. I liked the idea of bringing the neat-sheet for the parade, and possible rain (we're going in Oct.). My daughter is pretty easy--water is her drink of choice, so I'll bring a couple bottles and we'll get more at the hotel (so I don't have a huge need for sippy cups/juice boxes/etc.). She'll drink milk or juice at meals. I'll bring a few new toys for the plane trip (she's never been on a plane before--yikes...), but other than that, I can't see that I need much more than basic clothing, sunscreen, hats, a few familiar snacks and a bottle of water. We're staying at the DL Hotel, so that's pretty convenient. I've never traveled with my daughter before (besides road trips), and my girlfriend thinks I'm crazy bringing only carry-on luggage. (I took the same entourage with my for 2 weeks in France, and I'm only staying for 3 days!!( Disneyland itself will be the biggest high of her life, so I just can't see bringing a bunch of toys...Am I missing anything major?

    Thanks in advance,

    C

This happened to me on our last trip and I swear I remember seeing a camera shop or something where you could do that. When I asked around, no one seemed to know what I was talking about. (not unusual, I might add!)

    An extra change of clothing

We go a couple of times a year and we have an extended stay each October (this year I think there will be over twenty in our October group). The extra clothing came because my macho husband wouldn't wuss out like us wimmin and wear a poncho on GRR and a geyser of water shot down his back, soaking him to the bone. He was a miserable grouch for the rest of the day. The rest came from experience.

    Maybe we'll see you there!

Question? Are you plannning to buy food in the park? If you post a request on the disney dining for food recomendations we will gladly oblige.
I am slighlty more local, I only drive four hours to DL, so we always take food with us. We pack a small cooler with lunch stuff, we eat breaky at the hotel. That way we can kinda splurge on our dinner. We try to use dinner time as a time to chill out for a while.
With kids my mom always had us go on It's A Small World Afterall. She always said it was to let our tummies settle.
I took my friends daughter for her first DL trip a couple of months ago, and I found that the disney kids meals are over priced and not much food. So we just shared 1 adult meal and munched on our snacks.
Trail mix (the single serving sizes are lighter), grapes, oranges.
The other thing I always do is we always take our CamelPack. It is a small backpack with a refillable bladder for water. This is the best thing. Ours holds almost a gallon and if we fill it with ice we have cold water all day. We leave a few 1 ltr. water bottles in the lockers for refilling.
Also for a special experience you can call the hotel, and (buy) have a basket of special presents delivered to your room before you get there. (i think this is the right number. Disney DelivEARS 800-362-4533) And anything you buy in the park can be delivered to you hotel.
Ok I think I have talked long enough...

We would take in PB&J Uncrustable sandwiches, individual packs of Pringles, and Capri Suns or water. It made it nice so when the kids were hungry, you could feed them fast! The rest of us adults would get counter service for lunch.

Something else we packed were those emergency type ponchos for chance of rain that you can get in the camping gear section of any store. They are usually REALLY big when you put them on, but they are really small & compact before you open the package up. And they're only about $1 or $2. Would be cheaper than the DL rain ponchos that they sell there.

The other thing I agree with was the extra pair of shoes. Sometimes wearing the same pair of shoes for 18 hours a day can wreak havoc on your feet. It's nice to have a different pair to trade off with.

You might also want to bring a light jacket or sweater for the early morning or late evening.

We're going to DL with our 2 boys (3,5) at the end of Sept. I'll let you know how we did when we get back. I'm sure I'll have some "We shoulda's" for you.

I packed one and left it at the hotel, then got caught in a downpour at DL, they sell them there for $10

This one's more for you as the adult; I don't know how many electronic devices you carry, but I like to bring a power strip for all mine. (Then again, you are only staying three days. *shrug* Maybe someone else will find the tip useful.)
