My sister wants to take my nephew to Disneyland for his very first time the day before Thanksgiving. I know that the actual day of Thanksgiving is amazingly busy, but what about the day before? He's 3 years old and I can't possibly imagine it being very fun for anyone if it's going to be especially busy that day.

BTW, they live in San Fransisco so it isn't really an "any day of the week" kind of thing for them. But they could easily opt-out and come back another time as well.

About a week ago they expanded the hours for the days leading up to Thanksgiving from the originally planned 11pm close. They are now 8am to 12Midnight Monday thru Wednesday before Thanksgiving. That means it will be very, very busy.

See the thread from Friday about Disneyland reaching capacity and closing the turnstiles on Veterans Day.

It's the 50th Anniversary. Weekdays in September and October were busy. Weekends since May have been very busy. And any day remotely close to a Holiday is very, very busy.

If they want to avoid crowds, can your sister and your nephew schedule a visit in 2007 after the 50th ends? A weekday in the winter or early spring of '07, before the Finding Nemo Submarine Voyage opens should be okay.

But I wouldn't go anywhere near Thanksgiving; I agree with you. My kids' school gives the whole week off, and I'm sure it's not the only one in CA that does.

I'll be there with a group of four, including a sister with a broken foot and a wife 7 1/2 months pregnant. Fun for all!

The problem is that everything is different this season due to the 50th. Historically, Sept. and Oct. aren't that busy but this year they were. We're going the week after Thanksgiving too, and I am telling my boyfriend and his parents (who are going too) to prepare for crowds.

Absolutely. My fiancee and I went this past October and assumed we'd picked a low-volume time. Uh uh. WE went Thursday - Saturday. The Thursday wasn't bad, but the Friday got worse and worse as the day wore on. Saturday was the same.

For our holiday trip we're going the week of the 11th. We originally booked that week because previously it was my understanding that it was fairly quiet. After our October experience, I'm doing the same as the poster above - warning our family to expect crowds.
