It doesn't work that way in this situation. Before, because it was FREE, Disney was losing money writing names on ears. NOW, all it takes is just one person to pay $3 to show that they did the right thing because they made $3 that they didn't make before.

However, if nobody gets their names signed, then they can justify getting rid of the machine or even CMs because nobody wanted that service.

But then again, if nobody bought the ears because it cost too much (to put the name on), then Disney WILL care.

I don't think this is a battle you can win. All you will do is deprive yourself of something you like to do. If you don't like to do it...then, like said before, don't do it.

Someone should set up a van with a sewing machine in the back somewhere near the park and provide the service for $1. People could just buy the hats without any stitching and get their names added offsite.

I guess we'll just have to accept that Disney would prefer to eliminate services for their guests unless they are paid handsomely for them. And since people are getting fed up at all the excessive costs, they are becoming more willing to do without.

No way should any Disney Park be out of ears at anytime.

Now, the store cast member who did that for them would probably be fired for wasting thread that could have been sold for $3.

Instead, they come off totally greedy an by charging separately for a service they always provided in the past, "or you don't get it."

How will some kids feel - those whose parents are scraping up every $$ to make the visit possible, but shy away from that extra $3 - when they see other kids with names on their ears, but their ears are blank.

Whatever. It's common sense. These idiot marketers are clueless.

And given all the silly things people spend money on at Disneyland (not to mention the vast quantities people spend), I think they would be fools not to charge for something as "in demand" as having names embroidered on a hat.

Even if it just stayed free on the original black Mickey ears. But I am in the *this is outrageous marketeering* camp.
