Never the comic books or the new tv show or anything like that. Man, I LOVE summer movie season!

The overall tone and style has really been pretty similar across all incarnations of the property. From what I've read, Bryan Singer pretty much considers the first two films in the Christopher Reeve series to be the best incarnation of the character and, thus, he decided to make this film essentially "Superman III", pretending that the two other films in that series didn't exist. He has apparently gone to quite a bit of trouble to match the overall look and style of the earlier films, particularly Richard Donner's original. As for the music, I heard an interview with composer John Ottman about a week ago in which he talked primarily about the approach to the score. He stated that the opening credits will be a pretty much straight performance of Williams' march, with only some timing changes to fit the length of the opening titles for this film. He also said that the march, Lois Lane's theme, and the Krypton theme from Williams' score are also incorporated at various points during the rest of the film. He did compose a fair amount of original music for the film as well and did acknowledge that the style is similar to Williams' work. -Jeff

I wanted them to start out like Batman Begins, a look at Superman his first year in action. Or, if they didn't do that, I wanted them to start over, and be more comic book canon. Maybe even have a villain besides a cracked out Luthor. This movie is not appealing to me at all. Lois with a kid? Arg.
