    OMG! Robert Smigel takes on Disney in his cartoon that airs on Saturday Night Live tonight.

    It's rude, offensive, slanderous, somewhat on target, and maybe funny in places.

    How could they DO this?! I don't mean, "How could he be so tasteless?" I mean, "How can he include Disney footage and representations of Disney characters like that, and how can they air it?!"

    It comes on about 20 minutes into the show.

    If it's satire, which it is, there's a lot more leeway. Also, images, sounds and such things be shown or used for a certain brief amount of time before copyrights and all that kick in.

    I'd be interested in reading your reaction if you happen to see it. I understand that there's more leeway when something is satire. Still, I'm surprised that the prolonged use of Disney animated characters, the use of Disney film clips, and the "hostile" exaggeration of truths about Disney in this segment would not be considered potentially actionable.

You have to believe that segment went throught NBC legal before ever giving it the green light. SNL gets more leeway than a lot of shows, but not that much. Still, I wouldn't be surprised if Disney took action.

    It also made a good point in that Walt Disney was just a MAN, dammit, but I thought it went a bit far on the anti-Semetic angle.

    And, YEAH! Mickey's appearance for so long! Not only his likeness, but the out-of-character representation! How could they get away with that?!
