The Yacht and Beach Clubs seem to have extreme variance in the reviews, ranging from the best reason to visit WDW to the absolute worst part of the vacation, so it seems to really vary with those.

OK seriously, stay on property because trust me you do not want to enter in and out of WDW with the rest the endless crowds and traffic mayhem and you most likely will want early entry to the parks. All 3 moderates, IMO, are equally desirable.

You may be able to stay at one of those locations for a lot less than you think. Since you have a 8 and a 14 year old, I would guess that you would want to stay closer to the MK, so the Fort Wilderness Villas may be a good choice. It is only a boat ride away with a great view of the castle as you approach MK. If you want to be closer to the Epcot area, you might be able to get a studio at the Boardwalk or Beach Club. Walking distance to Epcot and a boat ride ( or walk) to Disney studios.

Or just a really cool pool with a waterfall? CBR is spread out, both Port Orleans have boat rides to DTD and Coranado have the cool waterfall pool. But they are all the came price. Help this helped and good luck and have fun.
