I tried booking - albeit late for Christmas WDW andNew Years - Vero - and had little success so I gave up.

Of course I'll have to find the cash -- and that is a trick these days isn't it?

Of course people are cancelling - the economy is in the commode -- and wait until the retailers numbers come outin January ( those retailers still in biz that is ) --
Many people are cancelling Christmas ( the nonsecular part )

Hold on to your collective hats folks - we have not hit bottom yet --not IMHO,which is why my retirement funds stay in stable value accounts.

say a prayer for GM workers you may know - it is going to be a very dark day for them tomorrow from what I hear. and I don't even have that extra sensitive spirit hearing :)

    Sad so many cancellations though.

And that at Disney parks 'quality is paramount.'

They are in a world of hurt because of all that abject greed in their overbuilding spree.

They need 30,000 rooms and timeshares like I need another political debate online ;-)

Bob is missing the key factor that people need to be able to afford to fly (or even drive) to WDW to take advantage of the offer (and the ones to come).

The deals are going to flow.

So what does that make all the I92, International Drive and surrounding areas?

Those outside the Disney walls will start to see a pain like they've never seen making the months after 911 look like 'high season'.

I'm going to the US next year and was hoping to make it to Florida for a Cruise and a stay at WDW. Sounds like if things keep going the way they are going (and 2009 is projected to be worse, isn't it?) I could get some pretty good deals. Which I might have to, considering the currently woeful Australian dollar.

A selfish thought to be sure, but just one that passed through my head.

How selfish of you to even think of coming to our country and giving us your money. ;-)

Ooh! That would be sweet! I was thinking about making my trip in May 5 days to keep the costs down, but if I can pay for 4 and get 7 total, I would totally do it. Now, the real question comes: how long do I want to wait for the best deals? It seems like things are still going to get worse for Disney (better for me!) for a while, so I definatley won't be booking for a couple more months...

I know this all sounds really sad, but I'm actually kind of excited about it. I was going to make the trip anyway, and they're really going out of their way to make it a lot easier to do. Even with my knowledge of WDW in general, I still found the ticketing process to be pretty confusing and not very customer friendly (I want to parkhop, but I don't want to pay an extra $30 for it...at DL it's automatic with any multi-day ticket, and I thought it used to be like that at WDW). Hopefully they will make a couple changes to the ticketing (or at least run nice discounts like 7-for-the-price-of-4) in the coming months.

That's the beauty of it if you know you can get that deal. Book now, if something better comes up Cancel then rebook. It's a win win propsition if you know you will be able to be there. Just keep an eye on MouseSavers for the latest bargain.

It doesn't sound sad in the least bit. Think of it as being a true patriot, and helping to restore our economy. Look, a lot of corporations have made bad business decisions in the past, now they are having to pay for their mistakes. WDW has become so over inflated with price increases while providing deminished services, it's time the guest got a break. Book yourself a great trip, save a bunch, and have a blast.
