But the effects make it a whole different -- and better -- experience for me. But I agree that the visual misrepresentation of rides that is done almost universally in artwork and commercials for attractions is frequently misleading and ultimately maddening. On the other hand, those representations set the mood. And I don't want the promoters to spoil it for me with literal coverage. I actually appreciate that they present more of an abstract, impressionistic image.

That said, I finally rode last weekend and am greatly surprised at how much I liked it. Like those before me have posted, it is wonderfully smooth and quicker than it was in the past. And the few effects we did get are terrific. The second lift and re-entry are thrilling. The new music however, is forgetable. I just keep thinking though, about how much more exciting it would have been if you paused at the base of the second lift and as the tunnel started to power up and spin, your rocket was launched up and out at 40mph. NO, the ride didn't need inversions but a launch would have been sweet. Especially with the new lift effect.

I mentioned before that I thought it was JUST for the website since the commercial seems to be a little misleading. I only found out later when I saw this original topic here. I don't live in America, so I only saw it on the website. Just go to the site, pick Disneyland of course and wait a few seconds for the picture on top of the intro page to change and the commerical will start. I am trying to convince my 12 year old to ride it at least once to see how she likes it (she rode it when she was younger and did not like it at all and I haven't made her ride it since). I figure she's old enough to give it another go. However, I don't want her to be "surprised" by the ride because she still remembers it. So I was curious what you meant by the second lift? Also, how well do the safety harnesses fit? She said before that she felt like she was going to fall out and that scared her. Although a few years older now, she is still very petite. (5' 1" / 82 lbs.) Will she feel secure enough in the ride? Thanks for any input.

Both are chain lifts and very slow, nothing scary there (OK maybe the anticipation). The restraints if I remember correctly, are now the type that come down over your shoulders. Before, they were just lap bars. She should feel more secure now.
