For a tiny bit of backstory, DH and I belong to World Mark by Wyndam vacation club, but it's IMPOSSIBLE to get in to the DL resort they have so I had just booked us a regular hotel room. Well, they just built a new resort down there and have slowly been opening dates earlier and earlier as they get closer to completion.
Well thanks to the planets actually aligning in our favor for once, the new Anaheim resort is opening at the end of this year and I just HAPPENED to be on their website a few days ago and noticed that they had opened up dates starting December 19th. Can I just say I have never dialed a phone faster in my life!!! I called the reservation line in full panic mode that I was going to just barely miss the very last room or something like that because that's just the way my luck goes! Well, the planets apparently still being in alignment, I got in!!! We're booked Dec 19-26th & I'm so freaking excited!!

To help matters, we have a cool rewards system at work where we get points as "bonuses" for doing good work, meeting our stats, etc. and we can exchange those for gift cards to all sorts of places - one of which being gas stations. So instead of forking over like $900-1000 for 3 plane tickets, I am going to cash out all of my rewards points for gas cards & we're going to drive to DL.
This is going to make the trip so much more affordable for us because now the only thing we really need to pay for is our tickets into the park & food, etc. & because it's not until December, we have time to save up for that!

Sorry for rambling, its what I do best, I just know I've been really vocal lately about how the jerks that laid off my husband ruined our opportunity for a family vacation - but I'll show them!! HAHA!

Anyways, on to my actual questions....Is Disneyland even open on Christmas Day? If so is it insanity? Should I hide out in DCA instead? Is there going to be lots of refurbs going on during that time? You know the usual HELP questions!! I mean I've been to DL enough to consider myself pretty knowledgable, but I've only ever been in the summer or spring so Christmastime is a whole new thing for me!

The next few days they were there at park opening or EE and although, yes it was crowded, they did everything they wanted to do and more. They are DLR knowledgeable so with fastpasses, PS for a couple of meals and trying to eat at off peak times they had a blast and would do it again. The kids were "done" in the early evening so they never stayed for fireworks. If they did it again, they would have switched up a day for that.

It's OK LadyKluck, I never make anything short or to the point either :) Congrats on snagging the reservation at your timeshare!

I doubt there would be much refurb since it is a busy time of year for them. (Bonus--pictures of your kids with the characters in Holiday garb!)

Yes, it is, luckily your not going to Wallyworld.
"If so is it insanity? "
Yes, you will have wished you have gone to Wallyworld.
"Should I hide out in DCA instead?"
It will help, but DL on Christmas is still better than DCA anyday for me.
" Is there going to be lots of refurbs going on during that time?"
No, they don't really try to schedule refurbs during this time of the year because it is the busiest. You wont see the first of the major refurbs until Jan 5th. The exception being of course if something breaks down.

Have fun on your trip. DL in Decemember is magical. It will be a bit busy but I am sure you will still have a great time.
