If we dont stay at the GCH we usually stay at the DLH. We really like all of the resort propertys. They are all very convient for us to park at with our large truck. Our fav of fav's thou is the GCH but we just cant afford to stay there but once a year its a specail treat for the family.

I was wondering why? We are planning a trip down the first part of December and wondered about staying there. I LOVE the GCH and Disneyland Hotel, but have never stayed at PP.

On the downside, the lobby area doesn't really scream Disney, to be honest, it doesn't really scream anything, as it's very low key.

And, most of all, it just doesn't feel Disney enough to me. It's not very like a resort, just a place to sleep. The first time we stayed there was the year Disney just bought it. It was so shabby! They fixed it up, but when we tried it again in 2005 I still wasn't happy.

For the actual accomodations, this is my order of preference:

    1) Grand (obviously)
    2) DLH
    3) PP

Although, again...I am happy if I can arrange to just stay at any of them on our trips!

We do like the DLH & the GCH.

I believe that was only when they were redoing the pool at Paradise Pier.

Yes, you can. For a truly outstanding out of the park viewing of DL's fireworks, try the top floor of the big Mickey & Friends parking structure. You'r right in the middle of it all, much closer than you are in the park. Very very cool!

Nice decor, although heavy on beach theming not much on Disney. (I live in Santa Cruz so the beach theme was not a big deal to me.) I do think the lobby is very banal. I much prefer the DH but for $89 a night at PP I was very happy.

We have also stayed in the Bonita Tower on the 12th or 13th floor with a view of the pool and could also see DL and the fireworks.

When we stayed in the Sierra Tower we were so low that we could not see anything but the trees. But we did not pay for the view either so we missed out on the fireworks. They say that the 6th floor and up in the Sierra Tower are the best view and I think that is when you pay for the DTD view.
