I have taken the bus from DD and had to transfer to the FW Campground busses and then walked. The campgrounds are very spread out I would recommend you pay attention as you enter in daylight to not be confused in the dark. Or don't go all by yourself off season and be surprised and then panic about finding your way "home"...Sometimes Doobie posts the movie schedule online. It is fun and my nephews still talk about roasting the marshmallows and seeing Pinocchio outdoors. Of course they have never been to an outdoor drive-in. They live in Southern Cal. All the more reason for DL to bring the SCI-FI Dine In Restaurant to DCA!!!
In answer to your ? I would take the boat...But I hope someone posts better directions for walking so I can be brave next time and explore the wilderness.

I have done all three. The paths going between WL and FL are sandy and for the most part clearly marked. This is also a great way to take in the abandoned River Country. The area is dimly lit at night but transversable.

For those of you who have walked, what kind of time frame did it take?
