ORWEN: Us Cauldron girls were wondering if any of you ducklings swimming around in the Laughing Place Pond can confirm this, too?

ORDDU: My sisters and I have seen Parade of Dreams many times and we must say it's a step up from what the Magic Kingdom in Florida currently has to offer for a day time parade.

ORWEN: Of course we can't help wondering how well the Parade of Dreams would fit into Walt Disney World, thematically speaking. I mean, there are a couple of floats toward the end that look an awful lot like Sleeping Beauty Castle. Wouldn't that clash with the Cinderella's Castle? I sure don't wanna' have to deal with Castle Wars while watching a California parade in Florida.

ORDDU: Lately it seems Walt Disney World and Disneyland are doing a lot of parade trading. Some may think this is a good thing but I'm not so sure. It seems like the parks should be able to come up with their own original parades instead of giving each other their leftovers.

    ORGOCH: Got budget cuts?

Besides the obvious whole "Magic Kingdom" idea there have been other notable things that traveled west to east. Electrical Parade, Mulan Parade, Believe -> Wishes, Block Party Bash...I'm sure there have been others.

DL is where dreams are made... WDW is where dreams live. :p

Given that the MK has been showing the same parade for almost a decade now, it seems like they should definately get something new. If they take POD and basically transfer it the way it is (show stops and all), I think it will be a great fit. There are amazing things to watch as the floats transform for the stops and do pretty neat tricks (bungee jumping, trampoline stunts, aerial stunts) and I think the folks in WDW would love it just as much as I do. The colors of the floats work really well against the foliage neas iasw, but would probably also translate very well to the similar areas in Frontierland. The floats are on the big side for DL, so I don't think the scale would be an issue. They would probaby want to redo the first float (the train station) so it is more generic or WDW-centered, and they can replace Sleeping Beauty Castle at the end with the mirror castle float they love so much. I think it would be a fine transition (and I would also love a new parade for DL).

I know they stopped extending it during the show stops near the end of the 50th, but it looks like that may be coming back. As simple of a thing to visualize as it was, adding the extra 5 feet to the height of that float was really impressive. I can't imagine what the view from up there was like!

I don't think it would kill MK to spend some money to make a new Cinderella Castle float similar to the Sleeping Beauty Castle float in POD. If POD does come to MK, it'll probably come in 2010, DL's 55th Anniversary, which they will probably make a new parade for the anniversary.

I remember when parades lasted no more than two years, MGM's and MK's have been around going on 7 I think, way past maturity date.

orginally the first concept for disneylands anniversary was to design floats that matched certain Disneyland attractions. That concept did not go to far because it dated the parade for only the celebration. The parade with its character appeal could easily be moved around. a few alteration in its audio and the parade could easily be moved to WDW. If not Hong Kong would also work since the castle is basically the same.

just wondering if DCE would ever do a concept like that again...rather than the generic animated films on parade concept that has always been done?

The new parade for TDL - Jubilation! (formerly Disney's Treasures on Parade) is more like Parade of Dreams/Dreams on Parade where specific ideas are showcased on each float - so you get a myriad of related characters together rather than just one-film floats. Jubilation! is going to be an amazing parade - huge number of performers and the floats are spectacular.

Don't get me wrong, I like the animated film unit concept, especially with Parade of Dreams - but Disney has always done that...so I'm curious as to what other crazy and unique, but still "Disney" concepts that they can come up with for the future. Legend of Mythica is a prime example of that...and that show leaves me speechless.

X - I honestly believe that Mythica is the best daytime production ever mounted in a Disney park. It has a great story, incredible floats and amazing music. It is flawless IMHO. A wonderful work of art. I honestly never thought anything could top The Lion King Celebration for me but Mythica did it.

Jubilation is stunning. The float design is like nothing I have ever seen for a landbourne parade before. It will be pretty special for TDL's 25th.

I'm going to put some brief descriptions of the floats on LP soon - the bulk of it will appear in Tales from the Laughing Place magazine soon.

But if Parade of Dreams would come here I hope you all realize the parade would not be as good as we do not have show stops in parades here in Florida anymore. I wish we could go back to having them but we have never had show stops since the Pluto accident.

Last Christmas, they couldn't put up the garlands across Main Street, because they were running POD through the holidays, and the floats were too tall to fit under them. Yes, they will look smaller, but they will still look fine (and maybe we will finally get a chance to see the Little Mermaid unit connected!)

And just because they cut the show stops on the current parade, who says they can't bring back show stops? I think it would definately be worth it with POD to bring them back.

Personally, I've always hated the show stops -- they just seem like a cheap way to cut-down the size of the parade. You can get by with less floats and still have a 20 minute parade if the show stops every few minutes. And I've always found these stops to be very, very boring with nothing new to watch.

I'd prefer they just design all future parades without these silly show stops, and just make them longer to fill the time.
