(If you're curious the RNs I saw were wearing teal polos. Their name badges had their names, and below that, where the home town usually is was REGISTERED NURSE in all caps. More to the point two of them were carrying stethasopes arround their necks.)

Two of them were walking together and I saw the pair of them a couple of times. I also saw a different RN, once walking alone w/a first aide backpack on her back, and once pushing an (empty) wheelchair. I also saw a security guy w/a bright red first aide backpack pushing a wheelchair, but he was in the distance and their may have been someone in the chair, I couldn't tell.

Anyway, that's the first time I've seen the RNs out in the park while not helping someone. (I have seen them assisting a couple of different people w/sprained ankle type issues on different days.)

I was wondering if they were perhaps wandering the park looking for people who were close to heat stroke or something heat related. Or maybe they were on their way to and from helping people, I just didn't see anything. Can anyone shed some light?

P.S. for the 3:30pm parade at DL it was really funny to see everyone crowded into the shade and not a single body on the "sunny side of the street" not even on the open benches on the sunny side. Did I mention it was HOT!

If memory serves right, he was wearing a pin that caught my husband's eye. We ended up chatting, but I don't remember why he was there.

Sorry that is a complete side-note. Although I find it kind of strange for them to just be walking around. I would assume it would be much easier for them to stay put and wait for a call.

I don't. Heat stroke can hit some people fast-and some have no idea that they are close to having a problem at all.

All are equipped with either a walkie-talkie or cell so getting in touch with one of them would not be an issue.

But, I can understand if the RNs were roaming the park on the lookout for people who might be at risk in the heat-don't know if that's what they were doin' or not though.

Generally they are accompanied by someone from Security when they are on their way to a call, but they could have been meeting them there. The Resort does have one, or possibly two now as I haven't worked there in a while, doctors who do CM physicals, etc. but they do not employ doctors or PA's for Guest issues. The RN's call the paramedics from AFD if a Guest requires more assistance than they can offer. I am sure that the first aid stations have seen heat related illnesses in more than usual numbers as always happens when there is an excess of heat. Many Guests are really good about taking breaks and staying hydrated but some don't realize how quickly heat illnesses can occur. Hopefully Guests stay safe and hydrated while they enjoy the Resort. Nothing ruins a vacation faster than having to be transported to Western Medical Center!
