The big loss is CM/guest interaction and the ability to easily update the spiel as needed depending on what is in the greenhouse. The big advantages are a spiel that will be consistent and not rely on the acting skills of several CM's. Too many of the CMs either became complacent, bored or uninterested in what they were saying, which bored the passengers to tears. Secondly, it allows greater ride capacity because more boats can be run meaning shorter lines and likely the removal of FP off an attraction that was never suited to have it. Third, it frees up more CM's to be staffed at other positions around WDW where they are more needed. They are not losing their jobs.

(I realize not all CM's who did the tour were like that). Her spiel really just felt like "there are plants to your right, and here are some to your left". lol Perhaps it will be a change for the worse, but certainly it won't kill off the ride. The boat ride has almost become a Soarin' overflow recently and since The Land is filled with more people since its redo, an increase in capacity was necessary. With CM staff shortages the way they already are across the resort, this was the smart decision. If it flops, it theorectically should be just as easy to add back the CM's at a later date (unlikely). Almost all great Disney rides are basically prerecorded spiels and they've worked fine without boring people to death.

When you get a chance to ride it, then you can decide for yourself. If it helps with the line of people normally at this ride, it's already a plus for me.

I just don't see them being used very much when a Soarin' FP is a few steps away and TestTrack is a must have FP for many folks.
