It looks like a lot of fun. Plus we get to eat in the commisary... Batman is a Warner Bros movie... Maybe I can have lunch with Christian Bale. LOL! ~Beth

Originally Posted By DlandDug I took this tour about eight years ago, and about two years ago. Don't know if it will be the same as you are taking. Biggest changes between the two trips was the creation of the "museum" filled with important props and set pieces. Expect to see Harry Potter's "room" under the stairs, the Sorting Hat, and a lot of stuff from Friends. They actually had most of Central Perk set up on another part of the lot. I also saw Warner's Western Street on my first trip (home of Blazing Saddles and the "town" from Little House on the Prairie), which has since been replaced with offices disguised as a residential street. Our guide was REALLY eager to show us where Friends had been filmed. Some of the more vintage sights were given short shrift. (I recall that just after giving us an opportunity to take a photo of the parking places for the Friends cast, we sailed past a back lot European street, as our guide mentioned, in passing, "That's the cafe where Rick said goodbye to Ilsa in Casablanca.") Most likely the emergency entrance to ER will be in place. You will also probably visit the "front yard" of the Gilmore Girls house. It is, oddly enough, behind the facades of Warner's residential street. Be sure to look closely at the small town square and church. The square is roughly triangular, and has appeared in countless TV shows, films, and commercials. What you will not get to see (no one does on a public tour) is the Warner's Ranch. It's a few blocks up Hollywood Way. It was originally the home of the Columbia Pictures back lot. Still standing, and in constant use: the fountain and city facade seen at the opening of every episode of Friends, the Waltons house, and many, many sitcom houses, including the original Stevens' residence from Bewitched. Since you are going with a friend, see if you can coax them into taking you up to the Ranch. Right now some of the sets are still dressed out for the late, lamented Pushing Daisies...! (Here is a great fan site devoted to the Warners Ranch: http://www.1164.com/ranch/index.html The "Small Soldiers" house is the one used as the house of the two aunts in Pushing Daisies.)

It wasw ridiculous how much fun I had. The only downside was having to lock away our cameras during parts of the tour which prevented me from taking a picture of the Stars Hollow gazebo! I am guessing that a lot of the Gilmore Girls stuff is gone now but I am sure that you will have a fantastic time! Oh, and my husband and I got to have our picture taken on the Friends couch from Central Perk. That was pretty cool! Have fun!

Our tour was a lot less informative than what I imagine a guided tour to be. BUT we got to walk around and actually get up close to everything. We ate at the commisary (YUMMY salad bar!) and then he had to go back to work... and we got to stay on the backlot and wander. ;o) We checked out the museum which was very cool! It was neat seeing all those costumes close up. Some of those girls are SO tiny!! It was a lot of fun! ~Beth
