We're pretty big Disney fans and we have four days in the parks so time probably isn't an issue. Is it worth it?

In that case, and if the $59 is not prohibitive, I think you should go for it. It sounds as though the tour would be of interest to both of you and that you might not have the chance to do it again soon. And nothing against your (lovely, I'm sure) children, but... it might be really nice for the two of you to "get away" and do this activity together.

I did the tour a few years ago. Because I've read a bit about Disneyland's history, I already knew much of the knowledge imparted by the tour. Even so, I found it well worth the time and money. The script DID contain new information for me, and it was nice to have access to a very knowledgeable guide who was able to answer many of my questions.

(FWIW, part of the tour's entertainment value for me was that most of the rest of the group seemed to be hard-core Disney fans who continually competed to one-up each other and the guide by sharing their [sometimes correct] trivia about Walt and Disneyland. I've wondered whether the tour attracts such groups frequently or if I was just lucky.)

On the other hand, and with all due respect to godalejunior, if the quality of the lunch is a primary factor in your decision, I'm guessing you could get better value exploring the Park and buying lunch on your own.

There were other teen aged children on this tour, and one girl asked her mom if she could "just meet them for lunch" and skip this boring stuff - oops.

Having said that, I did enjoy it, and if you have the opportunity, you should go too.

I think you normally do less walking then we did, because the train was not operating the day we did the tour. My son loved the tour, but he is a mini Disney Geek that I've carefully molded in my own image and was answering all the tour guide's questions. I was so proud. xD
