The modular shapes of the Small World facade make perfect backdrops for the projections, particularly the building animations. Also, as lesmisfan said, the length of the building makes for a more dramatic "widescreen" effect. Cinderella's Castle is gorgeous, but the narrow spires and complex architectural elements really don't show off this particular show nearly as well as Small World does. Is anyone else bothered by the clip of Walt Disney's DL opening speech in the WDW show? I would have preferred if they'd used his brother Roy instead since it was he who opened the MK not Walt.

The show would be better if was stand alone and had something else besides people's pictures. I think it's visually a well done show though.

The whole "interactive" thing is a popular gimmick that Disney has been trying to capitalize on for years now. I do agree with you though. I honestly don't give a hoot about looking a pictures of people's kids that I don't know. Actually, I think it would have more impact if it featured guests of all ages.

It makes more sense there as the storytelling is better presented. What I find fascinating is that the WDW show uses the same footage as the Disneyland show, complete with all the Disneyland ride vehicles and backdrops and unique Disneyland attractions, just cut and pasted on to the Florida castle since the folks out in the swamp won't know the difference. The clips of Walt at the end are wonderful at Disneyland, and then kind of stomach-turning in the WDW show because there's probably Disney World managers and employees who now think that Walt actually did see that park himself in 1971. You kind have to forgive the Disney World CM's for being as clueless and ignorant as they are since their own company keeps feeding all this false propaganda about what Walt actually did and how involved he was with the finished product out there in the swamp. Also, the music is really nice. I wonder if they'll offer it on a CD?

No one likes to look at other peoples vacation pictures. And having happy memories at Disneyland is not something exclusive to just a special few; most of the 500 Million people who have visited Disneyland had a pretty good time.

What I don't like is looking at them during my own trip to DL or WDW, while I'm in the middle of making my own memories. It's like sitting in the middle of Main Street and scrapbooking because you can't wait until you get home. Usually I remember my fun trip at home...you know, after it's over. I look at the pictures then. So, seeing other photos on the castle or It's a Small World does absolutely nothing for me. I do like the music and effects, but it would be just as nice without any photos.

It definitely works better on the "widescreen" iasw facade than on CC. Although the Disney movie song medley is fine, the one written for this show sounds just like all the other park show songs lately - sticky sweet, and desperately generic. At least they used it fairly sparingly.

It will also be interesting to see what they do about it in late spring/early fall, when the park closes early on weekdays, but it doesn't get dark until pretty late. If this is their big push for the year's marketing campaign, it seems like they would want to show it at least once every day.
