Or in Oct. and Nov.???? NO! If DL couldnt beatr MK it never will. I doubt Nemo will put DL over the top, especially it comming on Everets heels.

Fiftieth anniversary or not, DL is still primarily a day trip for SoCal residents. WDW is a far more complete tourist destination and will always have better attendance than Disneyland. If Disneyland opened an additional gate and developed a wider range of resort hotels (moderate and value) I think they could compete very well with WDW. But why should they? Would Disney really be bringing in additional visitors or just taking people that would have otherwise visited WDW?

I understand the thought - that with the 50th everyone would pick up and go there vs. DL -- just not the case. For many of us we made our first trip west in years -- but for most -- Disney is Disney...regardless of what we think here.

In the first week of Oct during the height of the meal plan of "Disney Your Way" I did not see big crowds at all the 3 days I was at Magic Kingdom. Yes, I'm a skeptic.

In fact, a good number of people out there have NO CLUE that Disney World consists of FOUR major theme parks, not to mention the rest of what WDW has to offer. It's frustating to us Disney and theme park fans out there, but, there are a LOT of people who think that WDW IS ONLY the Magic Kingdom. If you ask them about EPCOT or any of the other parks, they might answer that it's 'near' Disney World. Most don't even have a clue of what's actually there unless they've been there, and even then, well, some people are just that thick. I wouldn't even blame Disney management or marketing on this. It's just human nature. It's just not that important to the average WDW visitor that other Disney parks exist outside Orlando. Let's face it, it's going to be a lot easier for Travel Agents to sell a Florida vacation than one to California for about 3/4 of the U.S. and Canada, not to mention international tourists. Is this a slam at Disneyland? Hardly. The attendance for Disneyland proves it. They've had a very good year. They're numbers are up. And the West Coast population knows very well about Disneyland. Also, one last reason for MK's attendance figures is Park Hopping. Although the new "Magic Your Way" tickets have cut down on it, many people still do it with older tickets or choose to upgrade to the Park Hopper option. This also helps 'boost' attendance figures for the Magic Kingdom.

Daily attendance figures count turnstile clicks, and it's quite possible that the average guest at the MK spends a lot less hours in the park than a TDL guest. You have to take into account both turnstile clicks and length of time spent in the park when considering how crowded the park is.

Check your facts on that.

Also, crowds are more apparent in DL (due to the smaller size...think of traffic on a 5 lane freeway, reduce it to 2 lanes, yes, it'll look busier). DL wasn't really that busy during any of the days i visited during the peak period of July...MK was pretty packed in July. Anyways, not surprising.
