Looking at the Disney hotel websites, just within the past 24 hours they've opened up availability for bookings. It appears that the first guest check-ins at the TDLH and Ambassador Hotel will occur on Saturday, April 16, one day after TDL re-opens. Not surprisingly, availability looks wide open. The official web page says that show schedules will be posted on the information boards inside the parks, implying that they will not be posted in their usual place on the website. Perhaps this is part of the "toning things down" effort - the home page information talks about the earthquake, and a gradual re-opening of the resort, rather than being splashed with Easter Wonderland stuff all over the place. I guess we'll get reports by the end of the day as to what is actually going on inside the parks with regard to entertainment.

Although, if that lasts, I suppose I'll just have to deal with it...gotta get my Disney fix somewhere. Or perhaps I'll wait and be there on the re-opening day of DisneySea (when things here should be relatively speaking much more settled down, assuming DisneySea remains closed all summer which is my guess right now based on the energy crisis).

It was so strange and unsettling to be the ONLY guest at The Mara at 6 p.m. with 14 CMs largely standing around. ... the parks were very slow, but not empty ... you could tell that 'something wasn't right' ... but then Saturday came (final one in September) and it was like everyone (at least in Central FLA) just had the feeling it was OK to get out and live and smile and laugh. MK was just packed. It was the first time I thought after 9/11 that 'we'll get through this' ... Anyway, it's good to see TDL open and hopefully TDS will be able to open soon as well. The healing as a nation is going to take months, years and, in some places, decades. Many families will simply not ever be the same again when you look at the human toll of this disaster. But people need to live and remove stress and be happy ... and TDR brings that to them (leaving the economics out of the equation). It will be a very good day when TDR is back as it was before.
