Was anyone else there Monday or Tuesday this week, and anyone else notice more security?

For the sake of the families of the victims, the media needs to stop giving his videotaped rants and photos airtime and start talking about the victims. Right now the media is giving him exactly what he wants: the popularity and recognition he never had.

If he had just killed himself I would have had some sympathy (I don't blame suicide victims because I believe they have deep problems and didn't know how to get help), but when you go on a rampage like that ruining the lives of hundreds of people (victims and their relatives/friends), that's crossing the line. He had his chance to be stopped when he was under medical watch and care, and people tried to see to it that he was monitored/treated more, but then he was released under the false statement that "he's not a danger".

It will take another 9-11 before the terrorists prove their point once again... then our lives as we know them will continue to go downhill..
Originally Posted By demderedoseguys >The point remains, these stupid check points do nothing to prevent what could happen< Couldn't agree more. Two weeks ago one of the toy cops that pose at the security stops just waved my wife through without even checking her knapsack, because he was so enamored by a discussion he was having with another guest who lived in his hometown.

I feel no more or no less safe in the parks than I did before the security checks. If Disney was serious about security they would have scanners like at the airports. What they do now is not scanning, it's more like going through the motions. The best thing about the security for me is that it makes it easier for me to find my brick on the walkway since it is just a few steps past the security tables.

It's not about making a "difficult choice" to "tell the whole story" - it's about boosting their ratings. And everything/everyone else be darned. As for the security checkpoints, considering they accomplish nothing is pretty simplistic. It completely forgets the mindset of evil, disturbed people. They tend to be afraid even when there's nothing to be afraid of. Just the PRESENCE of someone checking bags can set them into nervous anxiety, enough so that they simply avoid the risk of being caught. So while the security forces are indeed pretty impotent to either detect or, on their own capacity, STOP a person intent on deceiving them, their presences DOES serve as a psychological deterrent to the vast majority of anyone intending to pull something off. Two observations - one from Sir Arthur Conan Doyle: "Criminals are a superstitious and cowardly lot." and from the Bible (Proverbs): "The Wicked flee when no one is pursuing."

If I can get in with all that then any terrorist could easily smuggle a device in. It is just there to make the "sheep" feel comfortable.

And while I am not sure what kind of training these rent a cops get, I (as an airline crew Purser) ge more training in recognizing many types of explosive and gun types. While the WDW security may be looking for glass, Grand Ma Louella from TN, may be coming true that same security check point with plastic explosive sheets taped to her sagging chest, and be capable of blowing up halk of the MK and it's guests to smitherings... Point is... not until WDW makes guests walk thru a metal detector scanner, operated by a properly crew and X-Ray every freaking bag there is.. the only thing Security will be able to accomplish is.. stopping guests from bringing 6-packs beer cans into the park. The whole thing is pathetic. I go to WDW and am insulted by the barricades I see everywhere on every walkway leading into a park.. If they think that is going to prevent any weirdo from causing trouble, then their heads are stuck deeper into the ground that I had thought could be possible. The only way to keep WDW "safe" is to close it down and keep potential guests on I-4, off property, and even then.. that won't prevent the Memphis Belle from dropping another whopper from the sky, smack in the middle of the property.
