The petting zoo area has been back for a couple years now (I think it may have come back just around the time of the 50th, but I'm not sure), but they haven't had the BBQ part open during that time. I never ate there, but it really added to the nearby path, since it always smelled really good. Now all we get is the smell of goat poo. Not quite the same...

And remember the long picnic benches with the western style tablecloths? Those tables always had us chatting with strangers... nice Disney moments to share.

Yes, there was a campfire at night. And those lovely, lovely picnic tables live on in the resort. They are now used outside the Farmer's Market at California Adventure.

I was a big fan of the beef ribs served at the barbecue. The chicken was good, too. The last time this area was used as a food only outlet was the Big Thunder Country Picnic, which served cold fried chicken and sandwiches. That food was brought over from the Plaza Inn, so I do not know if the Ranch still has a full kitchen or not. The barbecue, you may recall, was moved to the Rancho del Zocalo, although that menu has changed a few times since then.
