Seems like you can find a lot of ideas online about changes that "will take place during Phase 2" but I don't thihk I've ever seen anything where Disney has mentioned a second phase of the DCA overhaul.

    Among these are:
-- New structures for the entrances to the Fun Wheel and California Screamin', as well as Triton's Carousel.
-- Themed tunnel for the California Screamin' launch.
-- New facades on the west end of Paradise Pier shops.
-- New attraction inside the eastern helix of California Screamin'.
-- New attraction to replace the MailBoomer in the western helix of California Screamin'.
-- New attraction on the west end of Paradise Pier.
-- Redesign of Condor Flats to reflect the Redwood Creek theme.
-- Rockin' Roller Coaster for Hollywood Pictures Backlot.

It could be argued that "Phase 2" is being completed now. Although with the number of proposals and "fixes" that DCA has seen over the years, who knows what "phase" we are in now.

The "Phase 2" thing has been created solely by Internet fans and website columnists, and any little tiny bit of change hinted at in any bit of WDI artwork or imagery released since 2007 that isn't already completed or under construction can/will be lumped into Phase 2.

What happens through the rest of the decade for DCA is unknown. If additions or tweaks to existing facilities are made at DCA, my hunch is that they will come far slower and in a much smaller scale than the "Extreme Makeover" the park got all over the place during the 2008-12 period.

    1. Paradise Pier: I would think the least costly...retheme of remaining facilities (shops, Ariel's, Carousel and Screamin'/Fun Wheel queues).

Probably the least expensive, with higher costs coming later for new attractions replacing Goofy's Sky School and/or the original 2001 shops.

    2. Hollywood...continuing change from modern-day/"hip and edgy" to classic 1940s (i.e. real buildings, non-pun names, enclosing the Hyperion properly).

The Hyperion work is probably the most expensive fix here, followed by new/replacement attractions (which could conceivably be put off) for Flynn's, Millionaire building, and even the Muppets.

    3. Re-theming Condor Flats into Grizzly area. This could entail long-rumored AAs for the raft ride, removing any leftover modern-day themeing, plus the main work of turning Condor Flats from desert to forest.

Personally, I hope they get to all three sooner than later, at least the retheme/updates. If I had to choose, I would go with the Pier first, since it has had the most work done and now seems really half-finished, then Hollywood, and then Condor Flats/Grizzly.

I've seen people on the boards complain about "a bug's land," but it is well-themed and can be addressed once some of the glaring issues I've listed above are taken care of. Again, just my 2 cents! :]

However, it seems like many of these areas (Buena Vista Street, Backlot, Grizzly Peak Recreation Area) are all being themed to the same general era of the 1920's-40's. While it's certainly a step in the right direction, I wonder how effective the fix will be in total, when a large portion of the park is all themed to the same era. A different era than before, but it still has a certain homogeneous feelng.

I'm sure the changes will be lovely, but it's just a pondering that I've had.

At least Carsland will be different.

If they indeed go more retro with the Backlot, will they still have things like Electronica/Glowfest?

    Isn't that a bit specific?

In that case, I anoint Grizzly Peak as taking place in March 1943.

    March 26th, to be exact.

Yep. November, 1928, the month and year that Mickey Mouse debuted. The "newsstand" on the Pier has a stack of newspapers and several magazines-- all dated for November, 1928. So the assumption is that we are enjoying the Pier just a a day after Mickey's debut at the Colony Theater in New York City (November 18, 1928, to be precise). In fact, the front page of the newspapers is all about that auspicious debut!
