I took German all four years in high school and our senior German class spent 10 days travelling between Germany, Austria, and Switzerland. The one thing we were not allowed to do was go to the Hofbrahaus in Munich. (At one time students were able to, but due to insurance costs for the trips this was no longer allowed). Our teacher reminded us that the Hofbrauhaus was off limits. Well when my friend and I got off the tour bus in Munich, where did we go? The Hofbrauhaus of course. Sat down, ordered some beers (my first warm, dark, beer ever) and after a little while an older gentleman sat down next to us. He couldn't speak any English so it gave us a great opportunity to actually speak German. I still remember his daughter lived in SoCal and his SIL was a doctor. The entire trip was incredible but it was those few hours at the Hofbrauhaus chatting it up with that older gentleman that made the fours years learning the language worthwhile.

I feel the Biergarten in Germany does an excellent job of capturing the Bavarian spirit....especially the excellent music and join in dancing.

Could follow along with Silent Night tho. My daughter had told them that we were celebrating my b-day(it was the first). They called out my name and put the spot light on me. I'm sure my face was very red. At the end of the meal they brought our a good sized cake(complimentary). The food was very good(comfort food for me as I grew up in a German & Native American household), the atmosphere and entertainment was great and the service as always was superior.

No one interacted very much but it was fine. The food was great and there was more variety than I expected.
