At World of Disney tonight I was with them in picking up souvenirs and when my Mom's friend's daughter went to pay for the pooled items with me in tow and handing them my AP, the CM asked if we were together (i.e. married). I said no and then the CM said that she couldn't give me my discount on their items and that if her manager had been there my AP would have been revoked. Now every time before this and even at dinner at the Jazz Kitchen tonight post this event they gave me my discount with no problem when I wasn't the one paying. Can anyone shed any light on if this is legit in them revoking my AP when I'm present to use my discount on my family's purchases?

As for the manager taking away your AP, I highly doubt that would happen.

Some do go a little overboard with rule enforcement though. One time, I had an overzealous Cast Member remind me of the discount policy when a friend of mine decided to slip me a $20 bill, after I presented my Cast ID and credit card for payment. Umm... hello? It's *my* credit card! It's none the Cast Member's business why my friend was giving me the cash.

Some CM's "sell" the sign-in privilege to other Guests and charge them to be signed in. If they are caught taking the money at the Gate their Main Gate Pass privileges can be taken away and it does not matter why the person was giving them money. It's all about avoiding the appearance of impropriety. Even though it's technically you paying for the discounted items your friends should avoid giving you money for them during the transaction because you can still be held responsible for "selling" your discount. I'm not saying that most CM's don't do this as I know most definitely do, but it can lead to having discount privileges or Main Gate Pass privileges taken away if it is blatant.

 maybe she was having a bad day.
