Only boys would choose Buzz and Mowgli as the best heros. I think that the 4000 poll takers were mostly male and the lists are skewed. Future surveys should poll girls too. Beauty and the Beast and Maleficent would rank much much higher.

If the question was actually written as "Name your favorite Disney hero", I suspect a lot of people would instantly name a male character under the expectation that the next question would be "Name your favorite Disney heroine". Notice that Ariel at #10 was the first female character listed. Another thing to keep in mind is that this was a British poll and the popularity of different films can vary from country to country. From that poll, it looks to me like "Jungle Book" may be more popular in Britain than it is in the US (or it may simply have been more recently reissued there). -Jeff
