Turns out the complaint was that the chicken tasted bad, that it was greasier than usual, and that the guest was afraid we changed the recipe. The very pleasant manager explained to both the guest and me that they had just changed the fryer oil that morning, and that it takes a day or two for the fryer oil to season to get to the right flavor. She also said that most people don't notice, but that the manager had been there long enough and also could taste a difference on days when they change the oil. We comped the guest a whole pie after reassuring them that nothing had changed. I still was in awe that they didn't change the oil every day.
