Since it is considered off-season, I wouldn't be surprised if another attraction, possibly a major one (?) is closed this year.... but maybe someone else can give some info. on what the pattern usually is.

It was supposed to open by Thanksgiving for the Christmas crowds but last year it didn't open until the middle of December. I know, because I have kids with birthdays in September and December. Last year they both missed the Matterhorn.
