I was one of those folks who received a phantom text message about the 60th anniversary celebration.

The text explains that on Oct 22nd only, in celebration of their 60th anniversary, prices will be as follows:

    Hamburgers - 25 cents
    Cheeseburgers - 30 cents
    Fries - 15 cents
    Drinks - 10 cents.

My internet search for truth determines that these text messages are a hoax - as their corporate offices battle to field phone calls from tons of folks.

Corporate denies the sale, and IN-N-OUT workers say these texts are false as well.

I'm wondering if this is just a ploy to get you to the restaurant anyway?

    Let's discuss.

We are In-N-Out deprived on the East Coast. I try to doctor up my 5 Guys burger, but it's never sloppy enough to challenge the real thing.

I really want to go there, but it's kind of far out of my way to actually get there...

So maybe it is all a ploy!

Back on topic... I got that text message and forwarded it to my daughter, who I'm sure forwarded it to her friends. As for weather or not In n Out corporate came up with that plan, I tend to doubt it. It would only cause headache and disapointment. Granted it might make sales spike for one day, but the end result would be negative, bad publicity, irate customers, stressed employees, etc.

I think In n Out is smart enough to know that one day of increased business by fooling a fan base of customers with a lie is not worth it. Founders Harry and Ester Snyder would turn in their graves, they were honest & integrable people.

Our In N Out said that no store can make the 100x100 anymore and if they do the people involved can be fired. HE said the biggest they can do is a 4x4.
