Arrived at 8:00 feeling... the usual. At 8:05, while I was sitting alone in the cash vault, my nose opened up completely unexpectedly. Snot dripped out of me faster than I could catch it. Then the sneezing started. And then... the nasal waterworks continued for the entire rest of today. I recognize the other symptoms of an on-coming cold. My eyes itch. I've lost my appetite. It kind of burns when I pee. My thinking is admittedly old-school about treating a cold. I tend to think that you can only increase your intake of Vitamin C and treat your symptoms (aspirin and pseudoephedrine) and wait for it to go away. But has anyone here discovered anything more effective at reducing the symptoms of a cold, or effective at making it end earlier? I know there's AirBorne [or whatever] and other newer remedies on the market. Do any of them work for you?

He cuts up a bit of onion, a carrot, a stalk of celery boils it up in chicken stock, adds noodles or whatever pasta we have on hand, orzo is awesome when it is all cooked he chops up the chicken and warms it up. I will sometimes just add rice instead of the noodles. If it gets to dry he just adds more chicken stock. ORRR you can just open a can of campbells . The soup and vicks just makes me feel better add a nice warm quilt, pillows, and park me on the couch with the cat critters with some honey tea, soup and toast, lots of rest and I'm on my way to recovery! I also drink airborne, this is what works for me. I tend to feel better faster. Get well soon!

And warm lemonade with a little shot of honey in it helps, too. Just pop a cup of the mix into the microwave and sip. Feel better soon, I57... *HUGS*

Neither of these will make it go away faster, just makes it a bit easier to sleep. I'm big on airborne or like products and like wonderingalice I take it when we are on vacation. I figure it can't hurt and it might help I hope your cold passes quickly!

Anyway, for moi....it's super-de-duper old school, plus there are "warnings" out on the Internet against it...LOL! Alka-Seltzer Plus has worked for me since I was a teenager (back in the olden days). And, nothing beats the comfort of Vicks Vapo-Rub (I think it's more psychological than anything, for me; it certainly evokes good childhood memories) and, of course, chicken soup. I actually make killer chicken noodle soup, but when I'm sick.....too bad for me. Snuggle in the covers...drink your juice and take your C...use the "gentle" Kleenex on your poor little nose...and be patient. Stay hydrated. Get some sleep. xoxo

Drink Nyquil every juice you love and sleep and sleep only on the couch so when you wake up, you can watch more Olympics on your big TV without having to move. Besides shortening the duration of colds, they're great at warding them off in the first place when you're going to be in a germy place, like an airplane, or Disneyland. If you're experiencing, er, gastric distress, Gatorade is good for restoring your energy level somewhat. And never underestimate the restorative power of a good Disney movie double feature.
