Siemens is pleased to announce that its Sylvania lighting brand will be the sponsor of the classic "it's a small world" attraction at Disneyland Resort. Sponsorship includes attraction's first-ever illuminated marquee.

Flash cubes no longer exist AFAIK, but it just struck me as kind of ironic that a manufacturer of flash cubes would sponsor one of the "no flash photography please!" attractions. :)

It's for costs and thematic fit.
They even have sponsors for the bathrooms (Sparkle).
You kidding, if you were going to build a ride anyways and someone was going to "donate" some money for you to do so, wouldn't you take the money too?

Some sponsors that would fit thematically
HM - Forest Lawn and Rose Hills
Pirates - Trojans
Splash - Bath and Body
SM - Virgin Galatic
Matterhorn - Dick's Sporting Goods

Any other suggestions?

Really? I guess because it's not so dark in there. I still find it annoying when people do it.

WHAAATTT??? I can't believe they're doing this! What a terrible idea! First they go and fix the flume to where the boats don't bottom out any more, then they add in Disney characters in the Mary Blair style that completely fit in with their surroundings, and now they're going to COMPLETELY RUIN the ride with a LIGHTED SIGN? That's it - I'm NEVER going to go back to Disneyland, cuz they keep RUINING things with their new-fangled ideas!!!

danyoung- the flume is better this way. The boats don't get stuck anymore.

No, that should be Tower of Terror. The elevator ride system in ToT was developed with the help of Otis. An attorney at the law firm I work for represents Otis. She said that when Disney came to them with the idea for ToT, they went, "You want to do WHAT?", as they had spent many years developing fast, but, smooth elevators and inspiring the public to feel comfortable and safe in them. (In one of the downtown LA office towers that I used to work in, I sometimes felt like I was in ToT and wondered if I'd reach the bottom in one piece!)

I thought the same thing. I picture some overly serious young lady, in strong need of some balance between work and play.
