I would classify the Portofino walkable, but I'm a walking type person, I would estimate it's a mile all told to the front gate. If that sounds like to much the Portofino does NOT have a private shuttle, but you can ride ART (Anahiem Resort Transit). For ART it's $3 a day for adults, and $1 a day for kids, thats whether you just use it in the evening or both the morning and the evening. I know that when you buy several days at once it gets a little cheaper per day. Both times I stayed at the Portofino I had no quible with the cleanliness. We were there because we were with friends who had a company discount for the Portofino, but are you sure that's the most bang for your buck? Super 8 isn't that much farther and may be cheaper. A few people on these boards use Super 8 all the time By far the board favorite is Howard Johnson. I would guess and say it's closer than the Portofino, it's in a differenant directions so I can't say for sure. Depending on the season HoJos can be quite reasonable (or not). I know we did need a room last minute over Labor day and what they had available at HoJos was way way over our budget, but I know they have rooms as low as $59, again, depending on the season. So, Portofino, fine, but I'd try HoJo's first, that's just me.
