My mom got free 3 day tickets today and they have to be used by 5/22 so we can only go next weekend - I agreed to go (help her pay for hotel and gas - as she is now a single parent) and I totally forgot it was the premier weekend(brain hicup).
So my question is, if we stay away from main street - can these girls still have a good time? Also when would be the best time to get out of DL and head over to DCA?
I have joked with my boys (11,15,18) that we could do a premier like this - but I never thought I would forget about one and end up in the park (DC7,DD8 have no interest in movie stars yet - thank goodness)!
Help me if you can - especially if you were there last year...

Show up AFTER 6:50 AM, but as soon as you can after that. By that time, most of the "Red Carpet" fans should be inside and lining up around the Red Carpet. Stay to the EAST side (left), as that is where the Press will set up in the afternoon/evening (change from the last 2). Once you get to the Hub, head to Frontierland and do as much of the West side of tha park as possible (if you are there before 8 AM, check Fantasyland first), since the west side will close around 2 or 3 PM for the Premiere.

The East side will remain open until about 8 PM, so there is plenty of time to enjoy that side of the park.

If you don't want to eat in the park, I would head to the Monorail around 1 PM or a bit later and eat at Downtown Disney and then back to Disneyland via the Monorail.

DO NOT plan to leave the park via Main Street from around 6 PM to 8 PM, either take the Monorail out, or stay until the Red Carpet is over.

But lines should be short, and you should have a good time, except for the strange paths you have to take on the West Side due to the Bleachers.

Did you mean to say RIGHT? Or do they need to stay to the left of the East side? I'm confused.

There's a thread going in the LP Meets section for LPers who are going to be there, plus I think there may be some LPers in the press corps.

And here's a trip report (with photos) from last year:

Indy was down several times over this past weekend. When it was operating 20-30min wait at peak.

Space Mountain was down most of Saturday morning. Check the board at Main Street! Matterhorn line is on the right(east side/lagoon side) was 15-20min wait.

That is what I overheard some of the CM's refering to the people lined up as (much nicer than some of the other comments we overheard). We got in at about 9 (had to wait for my uncle's friend to bring the tickets out) and as we walked down MS trying to see if there were any LPer's around we were hurried along with the standard parade line - "you can't stop here - keep it moving" We were able to get on everything, except splash (too cold that early) in the FL,NOS,CC,AL areas before 10:30. I heard later was very busy over there. Headed over to Fantasyland and walked right on to SBL boats and SW. Checked out the storytime at PFF and rode buzz. Left DL for DCA and saw Aladdin at 1:50 - they only had seating in Orchastra since the park was so empty. Rode all the DCA rides the girls wanted to ride (no Screamin,MM,MB) my DD wanted to ride TOT but DC didn't. We also skipped GRR. We left the parks and went to dinner had girls asleep by 8:30...

Thanks for all the tips they worked out very well. To all of you that waited for the red carpet - WOW you must have had a blast!!
