One candle. My friends and family know how many decades. We'll go for second digit only :)

    But, I haven't really met a cake I didn't like.

Other than that I'm not much of a cake person. A pie or cheesecake is also great!

A #5 and a #2 candle because by the time all 52 candles would be lit there would be candle wax all over the cake from the first candles lit :p

I want a round three layer yellow cake with homemade bavarian cream filling. Buttercream frosting made with real butter--no margarine or crisco. A pretty lattice design on the sides in pastel colors. A shell border on the bottom and top edges. Across the top in pink icing done with a steady hand the words "Happy birthday goodgirl! One of the nicest, sweetest, bestest people in the whole wide world." No need for any garish roses but a few small tasteful flowers in a variety of pastel colors can be used. Perhaps a few of those new sparkler type candles.

Ice cream would taste good with this cake too! Chocolate would compliment it well.

(The talk about candles reminded me of my husband's 50th. We had a party at Naughty Nick's Pizza(Peter Pan theme). Anyway, I did put 50 candles on the cake and when he blew them out there was so much smoke you could not see him. I was surprised we did not set of the fire alarms.LOL)
