We've never been to WDW and it would be six total (including a 2 1/2 year old). I'd like to take advantage of the time off and stay for 7-10 days.

I have no clue if I should be thinking in the $4000 to the $8000 total range for EVERYTHING.

    Any volunteers?! :)

Moderate resorts would kick that up to at least the $2000 to $2500 range, depending on travel dates possibly higher. Food is tricky, that would depend on whether you eat counter service, sit down or some how manage to eat off site or picnic style. I'd say counter service meals would maybe be a few dollars cheaper at WDW than at DLR, so if you go to DL you can use meals there as a bench mark. There is also the dining plan for 40ish dollars a day per person.
Park hopper, and no experation options on your tickets will add more $ to your costs, as will water parks.

So I think your trip can be done for around $4000. $8000 will get you a VERY nice vacation.

Check out allearsnet.com and mousesavers.com. Those sites have a lot of great info for planning a WDW trip.

    Good luck and have fun!

Keep them coming please. I thought it would be way more than $4000 because I think I read for the Disney 7-day cruise was like $6000 for 2 people??

The DVC resorts have them and there are cabins at Wilderness resort that sleep more than your standard room, IIRC. I think I even heard about suites at the All Stars which should be affordable, but I'm not sure if they are available yet.

You may want to look into renting a Kissimmee condo-share. Kissimmee is only 15 minutes from the parks. Condos often can sleep up to 8 people and have full kitchens and in-unit laundry. The full kitchen could save you on meals as you would be able to make and eat a full breakfast and then pack lunches. With this option you would need to rent a car, but I think cost difference between the condo and a Disney suite may be worth it.

Look into those web sites, they really do have some great info.

    Airfare 1,200
Park Tickets (10 Day Park Hoppers) 1,320
    All Star Family Suite 2,400
Food (Magic Your Way Dining Plan) 1,390

    Total: $6,310

To be realistic you should probably add $300 - $500 to the food amount for food you buy that is not in the dining plan.

I would also add $500 for souvenirs. But even with those two additions you are still under $8,000.

I priced your hotel as an All Star family suite because I think it would be a much more comfortable accommodation for that many people. You would be able to stay in one room at Riverside if you had a room with a trundle bed, but with 6 people you would be really crowded.

I priced your park tickets and meal plans as follows (just guessing what ages your group might be):

    2 Adults
1 Child over 9 (adult ticket)
    2 Children under nine
1 Child under 3 (no charge)

    Have a great time!

    :)

What flexibility do you have regarding when you can take time off? That would make a significant difference in airfare and hotel costs.

<<I read somewhere that kids under 3 that still sleep in cribs don't count in your hotel party - so we would have 5 per hotel stay!>>

At the values, it's a maximum of four, plus a crib. You'd be better off with Deb's suggestion of an off-site condo or home, or two value resort rooms, or a family suite at All Star Music.

It might be worth it if they would have a lot of flexibility as to when they go and what hotel they would stay in. The availability of the AP discounts are generally not known a long time in advance, and are restricted to certain hotels. On the other hand, an annual pass only costs about $20 more than a 10 day hopper, so why not?

We always buy annual passes because we get two trips out of the pass. We will go in late January one year and buy the annual pass. The next year we go in early January before the pass expires. Works great!

a wilderness cabin may actually work...there is a bedroom with a double bed and a set of bunkbeds a full kitchen and a living room with a queen size murphey bed (my dad who has back problems said it was not as uncomfortable as he thought it would be)
the only downside is that it has one bathroom
    or..
in the moderate category the coronado springs resort has a junior suite its basically two hotel rooms together which gives you two bathrooms i'm not sure about sleeping capacity though i know for sure it has a bed in the bedroom and a murphy bed or sleeper sofa in the living room....
there are also suites available as mentioned above.

I'm not a big fan of staying off site, as i think the benefits of staying onsite out weigh the savings of offsite.

there are also good neighbor hotels in the downtown disney area as well, they are not disney themed, but still offer transport shuttles to disney...

I think one of them was just re-themed as nickelodeon family suites--i'll do a quick search for you, but i'm sure someone here will be able to clarify...

This is what I came up with for 9 days:
    All Star Movies - $2000 (2 rooms @ 9 days)
    10 day park hoppers - $1660 (@ 332 for 5 adult tix)
    Dining plan - $1800 (@ 9 days for 5 people)
Airfare - $2060 (including the baby)

Total not including extra spending money: $7520

I don't get where the annual pass is only about 20 more than the 10 day hopper - I thought I saw the annual pass was at like 460 or something.

I looked into a Wilderness lodge deluxe room that sleeps 6 but its $550 a night compared to getting 2 rooms at a value resort @ $222 - over 300 a night - are they crazy????

Then I figured we'd throw out IOA and maybe shorten the stay to 7-8 days instead of 9-10 and we'd bring down the price by a couple hundred.

Thanks all for helping me out, I really appreciated it!

My mistake... I was looking at the price of the 10 Day Park Hopper with No Expiration. You probably would buy 10 Day Park Hoppers with Expiration 14 days after purchase and that is the option I used to calculate your budget.
