    >>And, as always, from the Big Fat Rumor department, DCA Entertainment is considering grounding Aladdin at the end of the year, and moving into DCA's Hyperion Theater could be a return of... Beauty and the Beast.<<

I do remember when Beauty & the Beast was at Fantasyland Theatre. I loved the show. Especially the casts. I recall whoever was playing Gaston "got" the character and played it to a T.

Since B&TB is on Broadway, perhaps they might do a mesh of the FL show and the Broadway show. The theater itself is ripe for something on a grand scale.

While I don’t blame Disney for being financial prudent I do question the choices made that have resulted in a “dumbed down†Disney theme park experience. Obviously, it would cost more to create a show from the ground up, with a cast of new characters and situations. However, if successful, an original production could potentially be a creative and financially lucrative franchise for the company.

Other than that I agree that something new and original would be cool to check out. And if done well it could really payoff like Hans said.

I'd love to see something even more ambitious (but possibly cheaper!) like a "virtual lobby" in which projections around you would change what "theatre" you were actually in. One moment the El Capitan, the next Egyptian themed, the next the Chinese, the next supreme Art Deco - pay tribute to all the great movie and legitimate stage houses in LA and SF while you wait for the show to begin.

As for the show, B&B seems like a step backwards. The original B&B at DL served as the template for their now hugely successful run of Broadway shows, so it would make more sense to me to try to do that sort of thing again (as I think Aladdin was supposed to be, potentially).

Little Mermaid (obviously more ambitious than the MGM version) or Mulan might work.

But MOST IMPORTANT: Build an Indoor Que, with realyl good Air Conditioning, standing in the sun is not a good option!
