If they want to freshen up the show they should just give it a makeover. Keep the script identical but maybe re-record or re-mix some of the songs. Use updated instruments and/or musical variations. Update the animatronics: same characters but newer technology. Keep the original voices. Update the sound system and maybe even introduce a few new subtle effects: mist, fiber optics, etc.

That's all kind of off subject, isn't it? Sorry.

MomluvsDisney: According to Dlandug, the author of The Unofficial Guide was in error; Disneyland's Enchanted Tiki Room has not switched over.

Other than that, it's largely the same show at Disneyland. New speakers were installed, and the seating was changed. There is also some new music and drums out in the patio. BUT... it is still the Tiki Room we all know and love.

On a side note, are people not finding The 2009 edition of the Unofficial Guide to Disneyland any good?

But for entertainment, and useful information overall? I like to have one with me for each trip.

    DlandDug,

Did they update the seating configuration or just the seats themselves?

Just the seats. They took out the individual chairs and replaced them with long, padded bench seats with low backs. The configuration is exactly the same. The same bench seats were left along the walls, as well.

I saw the Under New Management version before at WDW. I didnt really care for it that much, but at least it liven up the show lol.

I was never a big Tiki room fan. I would go if someone wanted to see it or if I had extra time, but that's it. I even fell asleep on it once at TDL lol.
