There is no title as yet for the new movie, but it will be the eleventh in the franchise. (Until a title is selected, we will usually refer to the project as simply "Star Trek XI.") << More from the official StarTrek website.... http://www.startrek.com/startr ek/view/news/article/15891.html I'm thrilled!! This means we'll see all the same cool color scheme .. and designs of the original 1960s show. Whaddya'll think?

This is the Academy years, which would pre-date the original show by quite some time. There was a reason that they ended up rejecting the Academy Years film/TV show multiple years ago, so I can't imagine why they're resurrecting it now, Boy Wonder's involvement notwithstanding. Die-hard Next Generation folks won't care, die-hard Classic fans will hate it, and it's hard enough getting Joe Q. Public interested in seeing a Trek film as it is. /cs

Otherwise, the whole franchise will be even worse off than it is now.

How will they every find someone to play Spock that is not Nimoy though? Spock and his Actor = Good Picard is better then Kirk (However if another actor played Kirk it may not be as decisive as it is now)

A little over-the-top, but the character was over-the-top, IMO. I don't think Nimoy was any better an actor than Shatner on the show.
