"South of New Orleans lies Barataria, a pirate enclave that gained prominence during the War of 1812. To enter the bay, pilots navigated ships through a narrow passage between two islands, Grande Terre and Grand Isle, that protected Barataria Bay from the Gulf of Mexico. Legend says the French who first came to the region so named it because it reminded them of Sancho Panza’s unattainable island kingdom in Cervantes’ Don Quixote. Its nearness to New Orleans—a three-day journey by pirogue through the bayous—and its relative inaccessibility attracted many pirates, including Blackbeard. By 1811, the area flourished as a pirate haven and several hundred people lived there. The person most associated with Barataria, however, is Jean Laffite. This gentleman pirate organized the Baratarians into a group of smuggling privateers who provided the elite of New Orleans with luxuries plundered from Spanish ships under a letter of marque from Cartagena. Aside from building a home he dubbed Maison Blanche, Laffite erected cafés, taverns, a hospital, brothels, and other buildings to make Barataria a thriving community. The enclave also included warehouses for plundered goods and barracoons for captured slaves. Laffite’s constant avoidance in paying customs and flouting of the law, however, made him a thorn in Governor William Claiborne’s side. In September 1814, while Laffite was absent from Grande Terre, the American navy destroyed his pirate haven. "

Old New Orleans and pirates go hand in hand. As for the props, probably they will be something very appropriate. Perhaps some treasure from the old treasure scene that has been updated, or some decoration from the Captain's bedroom or something. Don't worry, I doubt that you will see the PC pirates chasing food around inside the entrance to the BB.

Relax, take a deep breath, it is going to be okay........

She also has a skull and crossbones tattoo on her...., well, nevermind that.

A perfect example is the horrible Buzz Lightyear theming at the old Tomorrowland Terrace. A Johnny Depp likeness inside the Blue Bayou might be a bit more than I can take. On the other hand, if they are just adding a few pirate props, photos, etc., then so be it.

And when fully grown she could weight up to 5000 pounds and over jump 25 feet.

    Poppycock !

Pirate stuff doesn't belong at the Blue Bayou ??!!!??!?!?

No, they just built the restaurant to overlook the ride and made it part of Laffite's Landing and give little pirate hats with the kids menu printed on them and give you mint doubloons at the end of your meal because the BB has nothing to do with pirates, much less POTC. DO YOU KNOW HOW RIDICULOUS THAT SOUNDS ??????

If it weren't for PIRATES of the Caribbean, there would be no BB.

Any pirate additions to NoS would just enhance the area and make it more historically acurate. They are not going to turn the whole thing into Port Royal with prostitutes and filthy drunken pirates sitting around in the streets. More pirate merchandise and a temporary increase in POTC-the-movies-related entertainment, yes. Total re-
    themeing of a land, no.

I'm much more upset that according to mouseplanet, the lighting for the Blue Bayou has been "Much improved". What's that mean? Better mean that they've changed to longer burning candles on the tables. Gotta keep the moonlight.

Yes, and I am her sister's third cousin's half sister-in-law (who was half-adopted)(by marriage)(twice removed) and I, too, have been secretly buying up stock, only I pay with mint doubloons, and I will use all of my shareholder influence to force Disney to put a couple of pieces of artwork and treasure in the entrance of the BB. Then, when I have succeeded, I will force them to make me a Captain Jack AA and place it in my bedroom. Ha !
