On several occasions, I have asked kids to get off rocks and other high places because it was too dangerous for them - while their parents were nowhere to be seen. I have myself almost gotten hit by a Toontown Trolley - and it would have been my own darn fault too. I wasn't paying attention to where I was walking and oblivious to the honking of the trolley. Thankfully, my husband was paying attention and yanked me out of the way. As the trolley passed, I apologized to the CM.

Yes, sometimes bad things happen. I firmly believe that fewer of them would happen if people were actually mindful of what they're doing. Or sometimes, bad things happen, and they just happen. It's not necessary to sue over everything.

I think it supports my position that the legislature should place a ban on dumb people attending theme parks.

"No, lady we always close the windows and pull down the tarps when we want to sell a lot of snow cones." Some people are really dumb.
it's sad that the kid from big thunder didn't use common sense. Why would it be time to get out if the bar was still locked against his lap? Was anyone else getting out? NO! So lady… get over it, it's sad that you're kid's hurt, but it wasn't Disney's fault. This is the kind of stupidity that i and every other cast member had to deal with. Common sense is key.

    "It's violent video games!"

In regards to Schmitty Good Vibes comment about the legislature banning dumb people from parks, well, the bad news is that the legislature is all too willing to jump on the "regulate 'em all and let God (i.e., the government) sort 'em out!"

Many politicians are looking for a chance to get on TV by pounding on a lectern and condeming those "unsafe amusement parks". Taking on The Mouse can make a politician look good. A case of David and Goliath always sounds good in an election sound-bite.

"Only Senator Fulovit had the courage to take on the Disney Company and force them to make their Parks safer!"

Thanks Ken for speaking up about the common sense involved in safety.

I also wonder how many of those injuries are really people who are jumping on the publicity bandwagon and claiming injuries in an effort to get money.

Some places offer some money even for minor injuries that were the fault of the visitor.

Usually. But can a parent controll EVERYTHING that his/her child does? Climbing on rocks and going places where kids shouldn't go is the result of of parental neglect. But a kid sticking his foot out of a ride at the wrong time? It's hard to place blame in that kind of situation. It's a very touchy subject. My heart goes out to that child and his mother, but I think her crusade was a little extreme. Don't get me wrong! I believe that people need to be responsible for their own actions, stupid as they may be! But with kids, it's hard to draw the line. In the end, I think that bad things just happen, and the fact is that it's nobodys fault. It's just the way that life stinks sometimes.
By the way, I was once hurt at Disneyland. I was getting off of Splash Mountain, and BOOM! I sliped and fell, right on my hip! As I lay there in pain I reached up, hopeing that my friends who had unloaded before me would turn around and help me up. When no one came to my aid I realized that they hadn't seen my nasty spill. Insted, all I saw was a cast member staring at me blankly. I also saw something very interesting. I was lying in a very nasty and very black oily substance. Some sort of oil or grease or lube. I was embarassed, so I got up and ran away. I had a bad bruise that hurt for the rest of the day. Was this the result of me checking my brain at the gate? There was something slippery there that should not have been there. But whatever. I didn't complain, even though it wasn't my fault. It's too bad my mommy wasn't there to file a lawsuit!
