Is the fact that Disney going all CGI and possibly no more hand-drawn animation features (for now) the reason DCA is dumping this show???

They have it at WDW but it's not the same at all from what I understand. sigh.

It's different every time in that you get a different speiler and they add their own spin on getting Mushu interacting with them. Good Speilers don't always stick to a script but find their own way within the script and keep their timing. You can always tell a new person even when they don't have a shadow.. I like some of the more seasoned CMs though becuase they *can* put a cool personal spin on getting the info out and they have their timing perfect.

Another bad deicsion by management in my opinion - this is a great exhibit!!! Are they trying to ruin The Animation pavilion? So what is this animation academy thing? Flip pads and crayons so little johnny can make mickey's head by drawing three circles?

So nothing that will be left will teach us about Animation.....am I correct?

When are the going to start the project to destroy the facade? This fall?

So if any guests learn to animate amazingly well, a CM can wish them well working for somebody other than Disney.

    - exactly, not like Disney has use for animators.

I am excited about the direction the Animation building is headed.

It always amazes me that Disney fans would rather see empty pavilions and attractions, as long as the attractions were deemed, by them, as Disney credible.

If attractions are not popular, what is Disney supposed to do? Leave them so that they can keep the 2% happy, or change shows and attractions to try and get more people in the park?

Anywho, the mushu show was good, I saw it 5 or 6 times.

Why is Disney continuing to destroy the most Disney attraction in the park? The venue has been chopped up and whored out. For what? There are already drawing stations in the Sorceror's Workshop, if they debut in the mushu theater it cant be long before Ursula's Grotto and the Beasts Library are reconfigured for well done meet and greet areas.

Along with Soarin it was the park's greatest asset at opening, why are they continuously messing with it? What's wrong with the facade? Just add a few light features to grab some attention of the passerbys and you will bring more folks in.

I really dislike the direction this attraction is going in. It was once a sophisticated (yet fun) look at the magic behind Disney Animation. Now it is another playground for the Playhouse Disney crowd. Why cant family attractions be created anymore. This park continues the segregation of ages with the demolition of Mushu. It was one show where everybody could laugh and learn together.

Of course the replacment could always be an improvment, something fresh would be a lot of fun. I am just a little nervous, because past changes have harmed this attraction. And now with Soarin at EPCOT, Animation was just about the only thing this park had going for it.

TT was a huge improvement over OMD, attracting many more guests to the Animation building.

Disney cant afford to be idealistic like many of the Disney fans on these sites.

That attraction was, I am sorry, not that great at all.

And to say that it was one of the 2 most Disney things in the park is, in my opinion, a huge overstatement.

Another problem was the lack of publicity for the attraction. If it was a gem, it wasn't advertised at all. How about some posters on the OUTSIDE. There is no advertisement in the park. No won't know it exists unless you're an animation fan.

DCA has always been poorly advertised. Even with Tower of Terror, the attractions don't add to the overall feel of the park.

Worse of all, Hollywood Picture Backlot is a bust as a theme. It never works as "HOLLYWOOD". It isn't convincing.

    Goodbye Drawn to Animation.

This is one of the VERY VERY FEW things they actually GOT RIGHT in DCA!!! Management really has got their eye on the WRONG END OF THE PARK.

QUIT PUTZING WITH THE LITTLE CHANGES! This park is desperately in need of MAJOR ADDITIONS! Leave what's right with the park alone.

I meant the Animation building as a whole at the opening, not just the Mushu show.

I agree with that part of the post.

I agree completely AladdinAZ, except about the night lighting thing, I dont think the park is open late enough on any of my trips, or I have just never been in the park late enough, to see it.

It couldn't be any simpler than that.

The Animation building, as it was originally designed, was intended for a much different audience. One *cough* might even say a more sophisticated audience. But that's not DCA's target audience anymore, and now it's more important for them to go after the Playhouse Disney crowd, because those are the only people COMING to DCA.

This is just another step in the long process of making DCA more of a Disney park, and I welcome it. Now if they could just get some video games and some more couches in there, I'd definitely visit more often.
