Just one little quibble about your article's factual content, though. "James Tweed Kirk?" Every pop culture maven knows that the middle name of the Captain of the Enterprise is Tiberius. I'm only sayin'...

Seriously though, that was indeed a great tribute to a very special place. I had no idea that the Gallery was closing (I've clearly been out of the loop lately) and I am SO disappointed to hear that is the case. I also have MANY fond memories from inside, and will sorely miss it during future trips to the park (up on the balcony looking out over the crowds was my favorite place in Disneyland to experience dusk--which is my favorite time of day there).

Anyway, good tribute. Thanks Ken for help stirring up a little nostalgia.

I especially liked that not many people seemed to know it was up there, so it was never crowded. I'm going to Disneyland in October and it will be sad to not be able to climb those steps. I heard that the steps are being removed as well...that will be weird.

To be honest the gallery was one of my favorite places in the park. I used to enjoy getting a coffee down below and then going up and sitting on the balcony drinking it and just people watching or reading a book.

When I was going through my divorce, the gallery was just a private escape for me. I spent many hours up on that balcony just getting my thoughts together. I will truly miss the gallery.

If they wanted to they could build an apt above it, it would be even higher and you would get a view of the whole park from your window. I dunno, I am a traditionalist, I like things to remain the way they are, but I do budge. I am not a great fan of the Pirates update, but I don't totally dislike it either.

They haven't said the reasoning as to why the change is happening. It might be more involved.

But I think it's a little dumb because they already did all that work on the Mickey Mouse suite over at the hotel. Were there actually people complaining that they couldn't stay inside the park like they can in Cinderella Castle at WDW? I don't know...it just seems dumb to me to take away something that was for everyone just to turn it into something else that will only be for a select few. It was something that was so unique to Disneyland. Can you tell I'm bitter? lol

But on the upside, I can just change my thinking and say that if I cannot enjoy it than no one can. Yeah, I am being selfish. =)
