I wish Disney would go to an E-Z Pay system. I think that would really help AP sales. I just lost three months on my AP because of it, but that's typical. They changed the policy about five years ago likely to thin the renewal ranks. Of course what really pisses me off is the fact that some charter APers (I am one but not of this ilk) apparently have been able to snag charter status for children and grandchildren NOT even born in 1982-83 when charter passes were sold by whining, bitching and berating. It should NEVER happen. And it devalues genuine charters. ^^BIG TIME HOT BUTTON TOPIC^^

If not, we will be a couple of ticked-off former AP holders.

I bought our AP's online in 2007 and received vouchers in the mail and when I arrived on my first day, that was the day the clock started. I skipped in 2008, but plan to buy them this year so they coincide with the 3 trips I have planned between November and next August. If what your saying is true, then I'm not going to buy them until I get to WDW in November. Of course, I'm not as sharp as I used to be so you may well be right on this regarding the new procedures. The years do have a way of blending into one giant fog for me.

Actually, I think this makes a lot of sense. If you want to have your AP lapse for some period of time and then start the clock again, then it makes sense that that would be a new AP and not a renewal.

But yeah, in the past if you renewed your AP by mail in the 30-day (it was actually 60 days for years) window, they sent you a voucher. So let's say your pass expired on Nov. 18th and you got a new one on that day over the phone. Then you didn't make a trip until June 1st of the next year. Well, your AP would be dated June 1st and good until the next June 1st. Now, you'd have lost seven and a half months. And as a charter APer, I have no intention of letting that go (even if the pass just went up to $314 and change from $305 this past year ... just a few years ago it was about $282). But it still is yet another guest unfriendly policy.

And if that ABC/Disney show about an island where polar bears roam and dead people walk among the living and miracles happen doesn't win for best drama, I'm probably not gonna be a happy Spirit!

Since I live in Ct , I try to stagger my AP purchases to coincide with my trips. I may go 3 times in 6 mos and then skip for 6-8 months so I try to "time" my AP purchases to get the most bang for my buck. Now, with the renewal being 15 mos, I won't have to do that so it works perfectly for me. The DVC discounted rate (I think $389 this year) also helps.
