I would love to see Eilonwy become an official Disney princess, but I know it will never happen. Too bad. She's got what young girls need right now, in the assertiveness department. In fact, if you scratch the surface of Rapunzel and Merida, you'll find Eilonwy as the foundation. Since the more assertive persona will likely be the future direction for the Disney princesses, Burbank should resurrect Eilonwy and the film.

The Black Cauldron does have a cult following, though, and Eilonwy takes comfort in knowing she still has a lot of fans out there despite the Disney company's gross neglect of her.

Of course, she turned it down and came home, so that really means nothing. Depending how define it, Pocahontas isn't really a princess either; her dad was the tribe's chief, but there didn't appear to be any sort of special treatment because they were 'royalty' On a related note, people always said that Giselle from Enchanted wouldn't become a Disney Princess because Amy Adams didn't want her likeness to be used, but if you pay attention in the film, she's not a princess. She's just a girl living in the woods who is friends with woodland creatures. She is all set to marry a prince (which would make her a princess), but is transported to our world. By the end of the movie, the prince marries someone else, making Giselle nothing more than commoner with an interesting backstory.

In the same way that Mary Poppins and Bert can also be represented in the parks, no roaylties have to be paid to Julie Andrews or Dick Van Dyke unless merchandise is created that looks like them. The main reason Giselle isn't represented in the parks--according to a cast member friend of ours--is because her puffy white dress is too vulnerable to being ruined by dirty little hands and other threatening elements. It would be a nightmare to keep it clean. ORWEN: That's when I suggested they let her wear either her pink dress from the beginning of the movie--or her blue dress from when she goes to live with Robert Phillips. But nobody ever listens to me or my suggestions...

"Mulan was offered a position in the leadership of the Chinese empire, which I think it pretty close to being a princess." Either born into it or married into can some one be a royal. Mulan did neither of these so she is not a princess by any stretch of the imagination. She was simply given a job in court but had to power. As for what really happened "She fought for twelve years and gained high merit, but she refused any reward and retired to her hometown instead."

But, still, Giselle could be out and about in the parks if she was simply dressed in her less formal attire and THAT is the point that Disney just ignores. ORWEN: I think if they had let Giselle do meetings and greetings in the park consistently since Enchanted first came out, guests wouldn't be so likely to forget who she is. If guests have forgotten her, it's Disney entertainment's fault for not doing more to promote her in the parks. I suspect this same thing happens to a lot of other characters that get dropped from the meet and greets when they aren't allowed to be out and about in the parks. After time, they're just forgotten. But when they're out on a regular basis they're more likely to be remembered.
