The smoke trails behind them quite noticeably to the smell as they walk from one place to another, and you have to follow along a ways behind them as you travel the same way. Have you ever followed behind someone in a hallway who has just farted? Smoker's trail is the same. When I'm working I usually ask guests to please smoke only in the provided smoking areas. And they always do. But on a night like New Year's it's a losing battle. When guests are out to party and have a few drinks, good luck. I know poor smokers everywhere have gotten beaten up over the years for their habit. They can't smoke just anywhere they want to anymore (mostly). They have to go outside in bad weather, and can't smoke at their disgression in restaurants or business meetings anymore. But I think it's time that we help smokers out for once. Let's set aside an entire area where they can smoke ANYTIME and EVERYTIME they want to -- like say -- Nevada.

But honestly....the CMs (and especially the batallion of managers who were working on stage yesterday) have to share in the blame for NOT enforcing the policies anywhere. Not once did I see a CM telling these offenders to go smoke in the designated areas.

One more thing... shame on Disney for pushing Beer and alcohol so much for these types of evens. We don't need to see guests getting drunk inside WDW. Seeing two such people last night was enough for me.

Coffee is every bit as addictive as smoking. And possibly not even good for my health long term. (jury still out on that one) I admit that the smell of coffee alone could possibly offend someone. So if anyone said so, I probably would not drink coffee as often or as publicly as I do now. The big difference is that while my coffee might offend someone else's nostrils, the smell alone does not hurt them. Second hand smoke DOES hurt more than just the smoker. People who smoke wherever they feel like it when they darned well know they're not supposed to are taking advantage of the goodwill of others, who are polite enough to (sometimes) just let well enough alone, and just move themselves away from the smoker.

(Which is a bit twisted I know) With that said - I'm not a fan anymore of super smokey places. 3 weeks ago at Epcot on a Sunday night I noticed the same thing, lots of smokers all over. And that was on a random Sunday night. I was very surprised to see no one saying anything to anyone about it.

But the big difference is that those rigs don't drive down the street where I live everyday. Or sit at the end of my driveway with their engines idling. (Hey! It's a public street!) Are you saying that because trucks already pollute, that smokers should not have to worry about adding their contribution? Are you saying that because some people will choose to use swear words in public that we should all have to put up with it? Get a life and try to help improve the human race. We don't have to all live to a lowest common denominator.

Yep, another unbiased view of the second hand smoke issue--geez.... and yes, I know what it's like to be a smoker -- I was 2 packs a day for 10 years - but I quit 25 years ago -- cold turkey, by myself no freakin' patch or gum etc..... I decided I wanted to live long enough to enjoy grand kids -- so as an ex-smoker I get along fine with the human race- as long as they're not tryin' to kill me -- then the South Side Chicago in me comes alive .....and I have no problem letting any smoker smoking in an area where they are not supposed to and I am in, know it .............
