Disney offers a vast and impressive array of running events each year.

This thread is for discussion of all Disney (and its ok if we have a few non-Disney) Running events.

Participation from those who are experienced runners, to those new to running, to those who walk, and even those who don't run but have thought they may try it someday, is welcomed!

It's my first race, other than a couple 5K's that I've walked in the past (finished in about an hour). I think my number is 10017.

The real reason I'm doing the 1/2 this weekend is as part of a bigger scheme to do the Goofy Race-and-a-Half in WDW in January. While I'm pretty sure I'll survive it, the thought of doing 40mi in two days is really starting to scare me. I think I'll need to find a full marathon to do at some point in November, to check on my pacing and all that type of stuff, but that's a ways down the road

I'm considering getting a lightweight fanny pack (fashionable, I know) and a disposable camera, so I can get a few shots. Then again, I'm sure most of the race is just running on city streets, so I'm not sure it would be worth it. Any thoughts?

I bought a 'runners pack' to carry my ipod touch and cell (and room card/credit card) since I won't have pockets. I love it as its small enough I barely feel it but large enough to carry my 'crap' I plan to attach a caribeener to the camera so I can clip it if I get tired of carrying it

Very impressive for folks who have never seen be before. I assume it's linked to the chip in the bib, but I still don't know how they did it!

And -em, thanks for the advice about the running pack thingy. I got one, and it worked great for my camera and car key. It came with a smallish water bottle, which I faithfully filled up, only to have it commit suicide (by jumping) sometime before mile 4, so I never had a chance to use it. I saw that they had replacements when I was buying it, so I might get another, but I was really just fine with the water they gave us too.

And I think I may have seen you on the way up Harbor Blvd near the beginning. There was someone with shoes and a belt thing that both had pink on them. Any chance you also briefly ran up Harbor Blvd that morning? : )

I am currently in a state of horror, in an effort to entirely scupper my half marathon I threw my back out over the weekend, saw my chiropractor and Monday and she straightened me back up (so to speak) but the muscles are still in spasm, and I am in pain, been told I can start training again on Friday, but to start with upper body cardio and core work and maybe a little light jogging then go from there. This is really not what I needed a little over 3 weeks till the race when I was already under prepared!!!!

-em remember you promised to carry me the last couple of miles if necessary!!!

What's the other race you're doing? Is Food and Wine coming up that soon too?
