I used to work in the "Cone Zone" and it is very scary, especially if you are doing night work and the bars have just let out. I saw a few fatalities, but fortunately (if you can call it that) none were to the construction crews. One of the fatalities did injure a co-worker badly enough to end his career. I'll never forget calling his family at 3:00 a.m. to ask them to come to the hospital. I thought he was dead when I helped the paramedics load him into the ambulance, but he sprang up just as we got him in. I was happy he was alive, but he scared the s*** out of me.

I'm sure they're more than a few female CHPs out there.

Female State Troopers (that's what the Highway patrol officers are called in Colorado, and the Highway Patrol is called the State Patrol) are pretty rare.

I'm glad that the thread was moved and I do volunteer time and donate money to our local peace officer groups. I just don't support the peace officers who drove into our house, on a situation not related us, and left us with a huge home repair bill and shaken nerves. Someone in our house could've been injured by the officers' car while we were sitting in our home...and they really didn't care. All in the line of duty..I guess. :S Otherwise, I support our officers.
