I was a bit surprised, since the ones I bought 2 years ago were perfect. I understand that there is some variance in sizes between manufacturers, but I would expect there to be a particular DL size, such that once I figured out what size of DL T-Shirt fits me, that I could shop on that basis without trying each shirt on every time. This bugged me enough that I started measuring, and two of them are actually a full size smaller than they are labelled. That is, the XXL's I bought that are too small for me are exactly the same size of some old XL shirts I have. Measured at shoulder width, the new XXL shirts are 2.25 inches narrower than the same size DL shirt from 2 years ago. I guess 2.25 inches is the difference between XL an XXL In any event, that's far too wide to be just from minor variances between lots. A third shirt is about half way between XL and XXL. So, I think there's a problem here. Either quality control is so lax that shirts could be mislabeled as to size and not be noticed, or someone is playing around with the sizes on purpose.

After all, we're trying to give Disney money to buy what is likely to be one of the most popular and profitable souvenirs in the park, and one that uniquely turns us into unpaid walking billboards for Disney when we wear them outside the parks. And we love it! Is it too much to ask that we not suffer at what apparently is a coordinated deception? From the looks of this thread, what I described is a common problem. Keep in mind that I'm not talking about variances between lots or manufacturers, nor a situation where one brand's sizes tend to be just a bit on the small side. What has apparently happened is that the T-Shirts being sold are indeed industry standard sizes - it's just that they are being mislabeled as being one size larger than they actually are. Two of my XXL shirts are exactly the same size as what as far as I can tell is a "standard" XL. And from other comments, all of the sizes are this way. <<< The little girl behind the counter explains the sizing is now based on vintage sizing and it's more like the Couture sizes. >>> Assuming that this is not just a lone CM making it up, this only confirms that it's being done deliberately. And what would the motivation be for going back to the "vintage" sizing? Disney has done many things recently to cut costs, and they tend to disappoint me (but not at DL for the most part). But this one actually makes me angry. This is very different than having one less unit in the parade, or shrinking the size of a meal portion by 10%. With those sorts of cuts, you can still enjoy what remains for what it is. More importantly, there's no established standard as to how long a parade should be or how many ounces of food a meal should consist of. But clothing items such as T-Shirts come in standard sizes. Also, with an article of clothing, if it's too small, you can't wear it at all. And most guests will not notice this until they get home and it's too late. Most guests will not keep the receipt, and will probably wash the items before wearing them, and as a result, will have completely wasted their money. Perhaps equally important, they are deprived of wearing their keepsake with fond memories of their visit. But this isn't what really makes me angry about this. Can anyone figure out what it is?

This is something Disney needs to consider, I am not fat by any means, but I am quite tall. That makes me wear at least a 2X, and perfearbly a 2XLT or 3X. Disney needs to look around and try to please all the guests they see, instead of saving 5 cents for every shirt sold.

When we were on the Trans-Atlantic cruise, on the first day, DH wanted to buy a shirt. Normally, he wears an XL, but when I picked it up it looked very small, but the XXL was HUGE. We bought both, and the XL on him was skin tight, and the XXL was too big in the sleeves, but he really wanted a shirt so he decided to tough it out. Later, in the cruise, I looked at the shirts again and the XLs I saw were what I would expect an XL to look like. I chalked it up to a bad batch, but maybe there is something going on somewhere and a complete lack of quality control.

That said, the "couture" sizing for Disney clothing now that the CM mentioned makes sense. They are selling more of the trendy, couture stuff inside the Parks; particularly at the Disney Clothiers store on Main Street. And what makes you the angriest SuperDry? Do you think we might be getting stuff from Hong Kong Disneyland, or Disney Parks are trying to standardize stuff to line up with Hong Kong Disneyland requirements?

But nobody has come up with what I think is particularly insidious about this whole thing. And I do think that insidious is an appropriate word for it. Anyone? I'll post the answer tonight if nobody gets it by then.
