But that it was written in such a way that Disney didn't HAVE to remove the MGM name from existing locations. They just wouldn't have to feature it anymore than they wanted to in NEW locations.

And that it would cost a lot of money to change all the signs just to generate some negative PR.

I have seen some new low-key logo material from 2006 that says just "Disney Studios" on it. No mention of MGM.

First, I don't see removing 'MGM' as a negative. Just call it 'Disney Studios Theme Park' -- quietly remove the MGM signs and off you go.

Second, saying it will 'cost a lot of money' -- it reminds me of a small company that gets upset when their area code changes -- and they get all indignent because they're going to have to buy new stationery and business cards.

What does it cost ultimately? $500?

What would it cost Disney? It's essentially operating costs...

From my understanding, and I could be wrong, what currently is GMR could stand on it's own regardless of what Disney does when it comes to marketing & collateral.

The only drawback for the change is that people are used to calling it MGM, and according to one story I read even the CEO does. You can't fight lazy terms, ask the folks at DCA.

And no, I don't know if MGM has been dropped from the name.

I think I will be one of the proud wrong ones, at least until they change all of the signs.

Even the CM's call it "MGM," even though we're not supposed to.
