I ordered "Mickey Mouse in B&W" from Amazon months ago. Your review was a wonderful confirmation that I made a good choice. It's great that the shorts are uncensored.

If only "Mickey's Good Deed" had been included. Then this set would have been perfect.

Thanks again for the review and the excellent details about the DVD's.

It would have been especially useful for The Reluctant Dragon. I noticed on the Goofy set you can't play all the cartoons straight through, like you could with MM in Living Color.

While these Mickey collections are great (like Tony the Tiger gggggGGGGGGGRRRRR-EEEAT!) they are not the complete collection of Mickey shorts.

And I am afflicted with the "completists" disease. I have the sneaking feeling that if we don't get them ALL now, we may never get have the opportunity to own them OR preserve them all for posterity.

Perhaps many are lost, in horrible condition or something else altogether, but it would've been nice to have included an interactive list of ALL of the B & W features, so that we could see which were included and which were not, and maybe an explanation as to why. Better yet, an additional featureete on the subject.

Nit-picking? Perhaps. But these collections seem intended to be the "ULTIMATE" versions and I have the completists angst that comes along with knowing that things aren't included and no explanation given why.

I seem to have found a list online that MAY include every title (I personally can't verify that) but there are several that do not appear in these collections, and I find many of the titles interesting (who knows if the cartoons were). I hope at the very least that all cartoons that play in the Main Street Cinema are on the 2 Mickey collections.

Here's the site that seems to have some fairly comprehensive lists of Disney shorts:

Is it beacause they don`t have decent copies of them? The klondke Kid looked a little worn out and the sound was ify at best. I was just wondering....

As for your 2nd question, the current set, being only 2 discs, limited the number of shorts that were able to be included, so only a representative selection of the ones from that period were included. It is possible that there will be a "MM in B&W" part 2 in the future, but I've heard nothing definate about it.

But there will be a 2nd "MM in Living Color" set next year.

However, with the latest releases that came out this month, I have a few complaints and I wanted to get some additional opinions. In last years' release of Mickey in Color, there was a "Play All" option on the DVD menu that allowed you to sit back and relax as hours of Mickey shorts played.

Unfortunately, someone in the Disney organization either as an oversight or as a bad choice decided that Mickey B&W and Goofy should NOT have such an option. Instead, you are returned to the DVD menu system after each short and required to manually choose the next cartoon you wish to view.

This is highly annoying to me and I was wondering if anyone else was experiencing similar frustrations or had any idea why this change was made for the release of these new DVDs? I love the flexibility of DVDs to pick and choose which shorts you want to watch...however, I also liked the ability to just start it running and then to "veg out" and enjoy all of the cartoons.

    Thoughts?
